Here's a copy of a P.M. I got from Transalper when I was having trouble with photo size.........

I see you posted another big photo.
If you don't have anything to resize them go download this little free one... **assuming your using a windows PC**
http://download.cnet.com/IrfanView/3000-2192_4-10021962.html?part=dl-IrfanView&subj=dl&tag=button
I think Nordie recommended it once.
After you install that resizing is just a couple of clicks away.

After you save you picture from the camera to the PC you....
1- open your picture with Infranview.
2- Then click the word 'Image' in the menu list along the top and drop down the list that appears and click the words Resize/Resample'
3- Now you get a new little dialogue window where you can choose a new size. Just click the 800x600 Pixels (on the right side about 2nd down)

4- Click ok.

You could also adjust contrast/colour with this program, but one thing at a time I guess.

5- Now click the 'File' menu (up the top left).
In the dropdown list click 'Save (Original)'

There may be a little compression option window appear where you can move a slider to compress quality more but just having resized to 800x600 should make things ok for a starter.

6- Give it a new name if you don't want to overwrite the original.
7- Then click 'Save'
Your done.
The newly downsized photo will be ready to upload in a fraction of the time it was taking to upload the originals.

Good luck

I right click on the pic (s) and send to mail recepient....

The question pops up "Do you want to make your pictures smaller"

Click on "yes or "other options" and chose 1 of 3 sizes.

An out look e-mail opens up with the resized pic attached.

Drag/copy the Pic to the desk top an close the e-mail without saving

Bingo ...there is the resized pic ready to post.

Or start a Flickr account - it offers a variety of sizes after uploading.

:yes:Irfan view works a treat.

Right click, edit. (Opens in MSpaint)
Go to image on the tool bar.
Sketch and Skew.
Change the Horizontal and Vertical percentages to a value less than 100% (Depending on how small you want it).
Press OK.

Done.
Don't forget to Save As, so you don't override your originals.

Irfanview is good, especially if you want an editing program but the simplest answer is Microsoft Powertoys for Windows. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx This incorporates an image resizer which will do what you need.

For editing my choice (free) is Picassa.

:yes:Irfan view works a treat.
Press 'B' for batch mode, select the whole bleedin lot. Tell it to preserve aspect ratio and then select the width (e.g. 800 pixels).

The first pic you save change the file extn to jpg and you're away.

Another way to resize files is to install the Image Resize Powertoy from MS

Link for XP here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx)

It adds a Resize option to the right click menu, you can select what size or a custom size, it renames the resized file and can do a whole lot at once if you highlight them all and right click.

Apart from that I find Irfan View to be the quickest to crop, sharpen etc...

Edit : shit I thought I read all the posts (and there weren't many, still bleary eyed after last night damn). Winston's already offered this solution... I could delete this but meh.
