Somebody (Woodham ?). 1ZB I think.
Even forgive them for waking me up on Sunday morning.
Proferred unprompted that we were getting general public support because people saw us as "the thin end of the wedge" (her words).
That's middle NZ speaking.
We definately need to start pushing this point. People are aware of it and we can get much more political traction than arguing about numbers.
(And this is AFTER the ACC advertisment, too)

thats what we want....now we need to get the AA to realise that that is the point,AND that as motorcyclists many are also "motorists" AND members of the AA and for them to oppose the targeting of specific groups.

I've been thinking:The class that Campervans fall into is getting a $285 levy increase. The Motorcaravan Association may be a good ally to approach.

I spoke to an 80 year old lady on Friday night. Her thoughts...disgusting of the govt to treat us so badly...if levies need to go up, then everyone should pay just a little extra. She doesn't have family who ride, so she was not biased.
She also confessed she'd love to have learnt to ride when she was younger...I did tell her she was never too old.
I think the public are on our side!

If you want an ally - try the Maori party.
Lets face it there is a pretty good argument to increase the acc fee for people movers and 7 seaters etc so beloved of the peoples whom value large and extended families. Afer all, a simple accident can involve more people and cost more money.
Once you have a class classification system then anything goes.
You could try Federated Farmers or the horsey types those 4WD's are a problem..

That's because us white MFs have been raping and pilliaging them for years.
Well, that's what Hone tells us.

I expect their support was bought with the intended foreshore & seabed legislation repeal.

No going to either. They've done a deal on the Foreshore and Seabed Act and we're the collateral damage.
(As that clever Dadpole chap already said)

Interesting slant from the media:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/3043327/Motorcyclist-injured-after-swerving-to-avoid-car
"Motorcyclist" not "biker".
Mentions the poker run (pubs too) but also that it was for charity.
Mentions why - swerve to avoid car.
Mentions gear (it saved life).
etc.

This other articel is less positive: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/3043094/Biker-injured-in-bridge-crash/
But does mention a rock climbing accident. Makes bikes look dangerous (duh) but at least might raise the "why are rock climbers not taxed?" question.

Don't agree - mentions "he was sent flying off the bridge" and "he was knocked from his bike".
What else do you want - a sentence saying "and it was all the bastard cager's fault."
Definitely a change in how they are reporting accidents seems to be occurring.

Was talking with my mother the other night and she agrees that the proposed changes are outrageous. She's doesnt ride but has got nothing against bikes, middle New Zealand right there.

Kerre Woodham is on the air tonight doing talkback. As she has already interviewed Ixion on this matter, lets help out her talk back and get a few of us on air. I intend ringing her shortly after 9:00 pm to get the news out about the Bikeoi.

Who was just on? Some good points, was waiting for you to ask for cages to take care with the number of bikers on the road. Was that were you were heading?
And it's bikersagainstacc.ORG.NZ not co.nz
Anyway, well done and hope to hear some more.
