Been havin a bit of a chat with Les (aka Ixion) about having another crack at movie making.
It a similar vein to this one http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=111932
But thinking along the lines of combining a couple of other tacts used in adds recently.
Picture the recent add on driving while talking on the phone, with two different sentences being said at once about "hard to concentrate on two things at once" and "x times more likely to crash while talking on the phone".
Also, in the middle of the recession, an ad by one of the finance company's, with a real echo'y voice saying "is any body out there?"
What we're thinkin is, photos of all the fundraising events, with merged voices of people saying something along the lines of.......
"We're the biking community of New Zealand, together we raised $X for Westpac rescue helicopter this year, we support our community"
Repeat that 3 or 4 times, with decreasing number of people in each, for a different cause each time, eg. St Johns, Kids First, Starship, the toy runs or whatever.
Then, 1 voice on the last one, "I'm the biking community of New Zealand, thanks to the Government and ACC, I no longer can support my community on my own." "Please support us, like we support you, stop National from taxing us into extinction"
Have slides with the words to each script, then a final one directing to seb sites and submission process.
OK, so what do we need?
Feedback on scripts, content, facts, and heaps of people to send me wave or mp3's of them saying the scripts.
We'll sort the scripts first, need say 5 different scripts, plus the last one, then we'll take it from there.
Thoughts?

Sounds like an excellent idea. But how to get it to play on the TV, like the ad it emulates?
Pokies worth approaching? Or E+C, perhaps?
Maybe Fairgo would air it. Or 60 minutes. Or Campbell/Sainsbury.

The scarey bikers sewing circle has some funds, but no where near anything like what it might cost to play it on tv :pinch: Viral youtube? Email the link to every person you can think of including all the pollies. Plenty of emal addresses amassed on here now.

Viral You Tube is what I had in mind, but my last attempt hasn't been as viral as I would like, 500 views since Friday.
Does anyone have any facts on charity rides?
What charity rides in a year are there?
I know of the Auckland Westpac one at the start of the year......how money was raised?
The toy runs by Bronz, how many toys? How much money? Who was the charity?
What other ones are there, they need to be big ones though, unless we lump them all together and say "we raised over $X for charities"

The raising $X for charity Y will certainly get some attention. However, we really need to appeal to people's self-interest as well.
"I'm a biker, that's one less car on the road slowing you down on your way to work" - Everyone in AKL would love this
"I'm a biker, I care about the environment as I use less gas than a car" - This'll get to the greenies
Need to go for the spread :)
Get some pretty students riding scooters, a 30ish white guy in a 1 peice, a big lovable maori guy with leather jacket and terminator shades, a young smart-looking indian guy, a chinese girl and an old couple who ride pillon. BOOM! I should be in marketing.

Who knows how much is rasied by bikers each year. That is a bit like asking how long is a bit of string. Maha did a huge ride last June for rescue helicopter services that was taken up all over the country (Nelson won the fundraising), but that was absolute chicken feed compared to others. I have ridden toy runs, Westpac Runs, Red Sheild runs(for burns kiddies), about to do a Heart Children one. Finding out how much we raise would not be easy. LOTS! is the correct answer

what about a ball park, one that could be justified?
Is it 10's of 1,000's, 100's of 1,000's? or more?

hard to say, the runs around the country, and alot of the Rally's raise funds and give donations, the BRONZ VCR gave a donation of around $6,000 to charity last year, the OMCC Brass Monkey was in the region of $3,000 to $4,000 many of the other rallies as well give donations.
it would easily be in the 100's of thousands of dollars... easy if not more

A virus, takes time to take hold, very slow to start then as it spreads it gains momentum and then rapidly infects the community - I've just coughed on a few more, who will then start sneezing.
Give time to take hold

I like this idea, also sends the message that we are not all big tough meanies with handlebar mo's who go around terrorising little children! It is important to show that ALL SORTS of people are out there riding (can be done by choice of speaker) and that we have a positive effect on different areas of life for the public (through what they are saying). Might be some ideas in the 'imapact statement (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=110837)s' thread? (Some are a bit negative, but might unearth something worth cultivating there)

"I'm a biker, that one more car space available for you when you get to work"
"I'm a biker, I get over 50 mpg that less dollars headed overseas to pay for petrol"
"I'm a biker, my bike cost less than half the price of an average car that less dollars headed overseas to buy my vehicle"
"I'm a biker I am subsiding your ACC bill"
Umm ....scratch the last one.

What about.... Along the lines of the concentrating on 2 things at once ad with 1 person putting forward ACC point of view and the other rebutting their statements eg.
Person 1 ACC says I am x times more likely to crash
Person 2 I am x times more likely to be the victim in a crash
Person 1 $70 of a car registration goes to covering motorcycle crashes
Person 2 80% of motorcyclists also own cars
and so on then
"Its hard to concentrate on 2 things at once especially we one is talking bullshit"
