Both are good but more gravel on Rangitatau East and Kauarapaoa Roads and a lot less busy! Great scenery on either ride.

I have been lucky enough to steal my girlfriends Hero2 a few times, but I might be feeling the need to have my own gopro.

www.gopro.com has the info.
The White Series is similar to the Hero2 specs 5mp/60fps plus built in wifi (no remote) at $199us.
The Silver ramps it up a bit for $299.
The Black has the remote and the 120fps/11mp stuff for $399us.
All have the new case and wifi built in.

I hope you can turn that off.
It's only looping if you choose it from the menu. Hit the record button on the remote and it saves the last xx minutes as a separate clip.
You'll be left with a pile of 5min (or whatever) clips to go through instead of 4-5hrs of footage...
Loop recording is like cookies and cream icecream on a hot day that doesn't melt! Perfection :first:

I know how you feel, but maybe waiting is not so bad. From what I have read the hero3 is pretty buggy and only some of the functionality is 100% complete, on the bright side they have released the gopro android app now (but that does not support the hero3 yet). So even if I get one, I still have to wait for the functionality I really want.
Looks like I shall just be sticking with stealing my partners hero2 for a bit longer.

Great bit of videoing there Josh. Short & sweet. A short bit of helmet cam would have been cool mixed in there as well. Also some interesting commentary - not asking for much am I? :pinch:
What was it shot with & did you have a mini tripod.
Iyt would be good if there was someway of showing how steep terrain is on a video, I remember looking at a ride I did with Nordie on a slope where if you stopped there's no way you could start again yet it looked flat as a pancake - the revs was the giveaway.

I've done plenty of editing and DVD mastering work for clients but this is my first attempt at actual filming. This was more of a test than anything and proved to be an interesting exercise, I learned quite a bit from this session. Once the Hero3 Black arrives I'll be using helmet cam and static cam footage to mix it up a little more. No doubt it'll take a while to perfect the skills to together top notch vids, but I have a particular editing style in mind plus a video project I am working on next year which should be pretty cool... that's all secret squirrel for now
What was it shot with & did you have a mini tripod.
Full size collapsible tripod, this vid simply would not have been able to be filmed without a tripod or a mini tripod, too much tall grass, ferns, branches etc

Totally agree, it amazes me how a camera can make the steepest of gnarly slopes look as intimidating as heading down your driveway. That track had some pretty steep slippery sections yet it looks like a dawdle on the vid. My initial thought is to have a hot chick in a bikini holding a builders level in all the shots :)

on the port of napier back in 1989, the russians had sent them in payment for milk powder
security waslax in those days, so if we needed a car battery we'd go in and liberate a 'trepka' branded

Yeop we had heaps of them down in Nelson as the Lada dealer was next to the port. The Russian fishermen allegedly used to actually buy them over here, put them on the deck & take them back to Russia as they were very sort after at the time.
The turist was prob the betterer model with the single hand operated window winders:pinch:

Sure was, that recent storm pushed a ton of large rocks down that creek (Blue Duck Creek) and completely stripped out that section of the 4X4 track. There was a surprising amount of water still coming down that creek considering how much the Mackley had receded, there must have been some heavy isolated falls up the Blue Duck Creek catchment

What are you talking about? You love the steep loose stuff, so much so you stop to collect some with your helmet

Given the size of their bikes and the steep loose terrain, that's some pretty tidy riding. An Africa Twin is no lightweight

Also the hills looked steep on the video (unusual) was that because of the fisheye lense?

14f/14r psi on the 120kg 350 :D
The fish eye was flattening them out. Was quite surprised I got up as many as I did. One I stopped on, the bike slid back down. Sideways.
The bike feels a bit "big endy" at low revs although I've been informed they don't do big ends so that can't be the problem :oi-grr:
