This prob afflicts someone I know. She is "at the end of the stack" and housing NZ say she will wade in sewerage when there is a heavy load ie when 20 or 30 flats are discharging from flushing or washing machines... but should still pay rent as its hygienic. Asked if it was good enough to bath, in they said - well no not quite. Perhaps she should offer toiloet shake instead of cups of tea next time they call? In 3 way ph calls I heard them repeatedly refuse to relocate her "as it is hygienic" (to have a lou that works in reverse bringing the waste in not out), so they lie... most audaciously these bureaucrats she now calls white mofo's, understrainably.

If any plumbers understand apartment building plumbing from? the 60's era is this likely due to a need for bigger pipes at cost too prohibiitive for HNZ to be keen on? My thought is large refugee families are using 10kg washing machines so overloading the system... any suggestions as to possible cause of the toilet torture appreciated as the contracted plumber either can't finger it or else has secretly fingered it, but HNZ isn't ready to cough up for repair.

Why would you stay in a place like that? Why would you not look in the paper or on-line, and find another place to rent?

Sure HNZ should fix it up - but surely if your a tennant and have a serious issue like this one you wouldn't stay.

A few reasons to stay
1)HNZ keeps saying its fixed, living in eternal but much faded hope
2) mental health issues which caused loss of good job as result of some major personal tragedies makes moving a strain atop unaffordable, support people also live in same building...
3) was absent from flat for a year nursing terminally ill sole remaining family member and still divides time between doing this as needed and being in own home... so basically this has almost been the least of issues to be pursuing, tho charity should begin at home she has expected that her initiating complaints should have seen it sorted and just kind of got accustomed to the "run around" until some of us went "what the hell". Resulting in us "concerned citizens" getting records of all her complaints etc and then helping her push even harder, as ph calls just weren't getting joy...

Makes u wonder how many other vulnerable people are getting done over.
Just heard they have now sent 3 plumbers instead of the usual 1 '(100x) and some concrete drilling is heard...
