Ok decided others may not like me hijacking thier threads so here goes. Personally I like the ZX10R even though it was a 636 that made me like Ninjas in the first place. So tell me what are your opinions on them? Handeling, power, styling ect, ect. Lets hear it folks.

Pics of stock and customs will be much appretiated. Exspecially customs.:msn-wink:

need I say anything at all..??</center>
Personally, I think the 03/04 bikes cut the cake. The 05s have gone soft, and riding them, the nose feels like it's a lot longer (have to ride both shapes to know what I mean). I've riden a ZX10 round the block, but not really had it full pelt. I've riden an R1 at a fast pace, so I can imagine the ride of the ZX10 with something like the power of the R1. Fukin quick. I think they [636 & ZX10] feel a lot alike (which you'd expect), so neither is a comprimise over the other, aside from the obvious power.

Personally, I'd pick a 636 over a 10, cos the power of the 636 is already enough for the public roads, not to say I couldn't deal with a 10. I'd just be even worse/more tempted on a 10 than I am already. Around the town, I'd imagine the 636 to be a bit better too (smaller engine etc)..

Both bikes fukin rock anyways. So then it just boils down to the price too..

Edit - just had me mate, Carey Brier, read over me shoulder, cos he's a nosey bugger, and he seems to agree with what I've put.. Reason why, he's raced the ZX6RR for a few years and last year started on the ZX10. He loves both of them, but obvisouly he's on the track, so the power of the 10 now has him smitten

Hehe. Gonna let me take yours for a spin 'round the lot tomorrow morning? J/K unless you will in wich case I'm not. Anyway I still think the 10 looks better and if you say they are about the same in all but power then that might be the deciding factor. Hopefully be looking at getting one end of this year. Then the Virago will be for long rides and this one for fun blats 'round town/ short distance rides and track days. Also might be moving out to Tauranga.

yeah, probably can swap if you want.. I know that you won't drop it, might have to pry it off me, but yeah, can't see why not..
Power of mine isn't the same as the 10, unless you're referring to the R1 and 10, in which case, go trawl the net for squillions of facts etc.. Plus if we're out in the 'open', I'll tell you how to make it sound nice while you ride.. :ride:

and before anyone says, no, it's not by turning the engine off, or by running it into a dtich..

Don't know about swaping as my bike don't run at the moment, but I promise I wont take it out of first or second gear. It's not so much power I'm looking or just something that handles nicely, looks cool and sounds awsome.

they do that just being parked up ;)
you coming on the rally? I'm stopping with Quaz tonight, so could catch up in the morning..
See if any of the guys on 05s will let you on them too. The 05s feel 'lighter' to turn than the 03/4s. Depends what kind of 'handling' and 'power' you want. This is more raw, the 05s are 'easier' to ride. I want a monster, so i got one. It'd be good to compare the two anyway, then see if you can get a ride on a 10 just to really put the shlits up ya

never ridden any of them. but the six sounds like a ball of a time.
rode a cbr 600 "04" before i toook the 1000f "94" (hey its a comfort thing)
yep my ass liked the 1000 over a distance thing.
eventually will ride around the great south island.
but the 600 wa so much fun.
what would a zx10 be like.
but price wise and it's new zealand roads go for the 6.
unless ya wanna see a real fast top end speed.

Can't wait to get my bike and go on trips with you lot. Bike is expected to arrive next week & then I'm on the Wednesday 4 May CBTA full licence course.

Would be good to finally put some faces to some "personalities" in here.

When's the next trip away from the Wgtn area?

Hmm. Ok but do you know any shops around Hamilton or Tauranga that will let me take a bike out for an hour or so?

An hour or so? If they're serious they should let you take one overnight!

it all comes down too what you like. i have ridden both and the 636 is a awesome weapon but if you want bang for bucks the 10r does it for me. could try bay city motorcycles in tauranga. they have both models in stock.

the 10s can be a handfull on public roads
but are still rideable
(shit hardly use any gear above 3rd round town)
out on the open road different story
just have to watch whow quick you wack
the throttle to the stop.
(bloody big crossed up wheel stands are the norm)
bloody good way to get banned in no time.
I think the 636s are the better choice for town,
they just do not put the shits up you as bad.

dude i had a go on an 03 636 and man was it crammped. Had a bit of a sit (not a go cause it was the shop one) on the 05 and the rearsets were in a much more relaxed position.... Powerwise it was awsome and well i have to say that air induction GROWL it makes when throttling up is plain old orgasmic

Personally I like the ZX10R even though it was a 636 that made me like Ninjas in the first place.Just a question for ya AD - do you like the ZX-10 & 636 because of the way they 'look' or the way they 'feel' when you have ridden them? If you havn't ever ridden them then I suggest you do because you may find out that they don't suit you?

I love the look of the 04 Yamaha R6 but once I took one for a test ride last year I realised that I disliked the riding position because I was sore after only 20 minutes in the seat!

I think that I'd go for the 636. However I dont have to choose so I go for the 2005 CBR600RR :niceone:

All good points and will be looking into this. right now it's just the looks that get me but will go into a Kawa dealer soon and have a sit on a few. I've sat on the R6 and R1 and they comfy but I don't like the look of the R6. Might still go for the R1 though. Don't like hondas cause the fairings always hit my knees. 6'2" so I'm fairly tall. GSXRs also just don't look right to me and I look stupid on one. Will probably do test rides when it come closer to me actually getting one that's why I started this thread to get some data and do some reaserch so that when I have the money I wont be pussy footing around and then end up spending it on other non-bike related crap. Gonna be out in Tauranga for a few days next week (heard a dealer out there was hiring for parts desk) So will have a look around since all the shops are pretty much on the same street, atleast in The Mount where I will be for the most part.

Ok!!!!! Wooohoooo!!! Just got back from seein the folks off for the Waikato rally. Met up with them where planed after having a bit of a talk with crash as she was headed out on her ride. Lucky I decided to bring my helmet with me cause Bugjuice let me take his bike for a short blat. Gotta say that thing is light. Glad I straddled it before picking it up on the stand I might have thrown it over on its other side.... Told me about the air induction thing in second and to give it power to activate. Ok I hop on put my lid on push it out a bit and start off. Nice ride waiting for the level off in revs to shift up out of first... never comes. ok shift up nice quiet and then give it the gas. Roll on the throttle nice and smooth and damn does that thing go!! Loved it absolutly loved it. took it down the street abit then turned around bout 100 yards down from where he had parked. Bit more confident comming back down the street so gas it in first and second and then suddenly had to start slowing cause I was already back to the start. Hands were shakin from the excitement of it!:2thumbsup
Thinking about how I gassed it mildly and got that much of a response I think the 10 is too much for me. Still gonna do some reaserch and try to get a 10 out for a spin but now it's lookin like I might get a 636 instead.:ride: :headbang: :D
Oh and Bug...:not: Thanks heaps for letting me ride it man:not:
(had to take some bowing smilies off cause it wouldnt let me post it with them)

hey, glad you had a bit of fun on it.. you should borrow one and get it into the twisties - that's where you open them up and they come into their own..

Give me a while for that. If ya noticed when I turned around I took it wide and barely leaned it at all. Need to gain confidence in the bike and myself just riding around town first then we'll do the twisties.
