That's what I must have seen in Paeroa last weekend when I came down from Coromandel - absolutely gorgeous.
The rider seemed to be waiting for someone and as the Highway Patrol were just out of town nicking an R1 and a GSX-R1000, it may well have been them! :mobile:

So you pulled up next to a stationery CBR1000RR with it's engine turned off and you blew it in your dust. Well done. Feel free to try that against mine when its engine is turned on, makes for a fairer comparison.
GXR1000s are fast, but I've ridden both and there's one tenth of sweet bugger all diffference between them except the Honda is more stable/secure/call it what you like when it comes to a corner.
Quite right though the Repsol is just a paint job when it should have come with some race mods.

Sorry dude. I was totally oblivious to my surroundings on Saturday, specially after my mate dropped his R1.... The new black one that got away with being damaged......
I was on the RD350 again.... Good fun!!! I was out in the a-class for most of the day. I'm sure I heard people laugh at me the first time I went out in the a's..... I'm also sure there are a few sportbike guys not telling mates about being duffed up by an '81 RD350.......

If only your ignorant opinions weren't so boring. If I can be bothered I'll check what that latest mag was I read yesterday with a full test of the thou's. Their conclusion read something like "the CBR is simply the best jappa 1000 ever made" Then there's PB who have run a couple of comparos and picked the CBR but who gives a shit what someone else thinks - I don't. I only care what I like and I don't care how good you think your bike is. Reality and perception can be miles apart, or in your case miles behind. Whatever, enjoy your dreams (that's the place where you convince yourself your bike corners better than other bikes)

Welcome to the debate Sensei. Atleast from your past posts I get the impression that you know what you are talking about when it comes to riding fast. Others I suspect are just dreamers, all talk, or type to be precise.
Too true the latest Gixxer is a winner and has leap frogged the competition this year. Next year who knows what bike will be blah blah grams lighter with yarda yarda more HP. The point is this doesn't make the previous bikes or other latest bikes a pack of useless lemons and as Rossi proved a top rider is fast no matter what he rides. WINJA needs to turn up at the track one day and show us mere mortals how a shit hot expect really does it. Even if he did blitz the field that still wouldn't prove that the other bikes were shit.

Well I could argue that that picture supports my earlier comment that you can pass a stationery bike! Who couldn't pass someone on their backside. But point taken. Good to see you really do know a thing or two about riding.

I'm, in Sydney at the moment and sports bikes seem to rule here. CBRs and YZFs and full plastic Ducatis everywhere. There is a Rossi rep R6 in one of the shops. They must sell a lot of bodywork here, they have the bits hanging up in the shops.
I get the distinct impression that this is all more about posing than riding.
One guy was standing by a BMW1150GS which I thought would be an eminently suitable bike for Australia but it turned out he was a South African touring on a rented bike.

Out of the 3 1000's I'v riden the CBR was the least powerful under 6000rpm
Been told the ZX10 is as good as my GSXR at the bottom end but abit more top end so If it handled as good as the GSXR than will be fucken balistic . R1 was very powerful but to Linear with how it made it's HP so not good enough for me . Every one looks for that special something in a bike & buy which brand deliver's it so , All in all 4 Excellent bike doing their own thing !
Setting themselves apart from the other type's of sports bike EG Twin's .

Yup. Agree with above. Question to ponder, how many riders here could actually exploit the differences between the top 4 1000cc bikes. Very very few I would think. And also remember that maybe you can differentiate between the 4, but probably only to your ability. IE, you cut a series of laps around a particular track, the R1 you make the fastest time on, next the Gixxer, followed by the ZX10 and finally the CBR. Then Valentino hops on the same bikes, blows your lap times into the dust and actually laps quicker on the CBR than the others. Just something to think about.

Personally I take the bike's to the same road & test it there .
Eg
Standing start in 1st & 2nd gear
Roll on's Top gear from 100k +
Braking from a set Point & speed
Corner handling Neutral / Negative / Positive
Braking mid corner
After owning & riding many bike's over 30+ y's you do get very good at feeling the differences of each bike . But as they are getting so close to each other now adays it mainly come's down to little thing's Comfort / ergo's steering / colour Brand name

Not doubting your tests or abilities at all Sensei (from talking to another member here I understand I have no reason to doubt them whatsoever) however my point is that while one bike may be the fastest for you, too someone else it may be their slowest. We all have different limits/abilities and suit different bikes accordingly.

Too right OAB. Some of us get off on high speed corner entry, others are better at the exit speed and others get off on hard braking-turn-floor it and so on. So, no matter what bike does what 0.05% bettter we pick the bike that does it for our riding style. Quarter mile times, roll on difference don't mean shit to most riders who never use more than 60% throttle anyway. Don't tell me there are riders out there on current sports thous who go everwhere at 100% the bikes power & handling all the time and therefore really need the bike that has the slight edge over the other guy next to them who also uses 100% of his bikes power.

Digital cameras were thin on the ground when I tried novice racing but I gave it a go in the late 70s. It was the 410 production class and a couple of mates all fresh from high school formed a team so someone could come last and make the winners look good. Only ever raced at Ruapuna and Levels. Mike Pero was the only name I can remember and all we aimed to do was not get lapped by him and the other guns with race bikes. Bit tough when your bike has to get you to work on Monday and you're still paying it off. Gave it a go though, had fun and learned a bit on the way. Best I every finished was fourth and that was only because an oil spill dropped the front half of the field (about 10 bikes went down in front of me all at once in slow motion, strange to watch). Only pics I've got are from track days and I wont bore everyone with them. Any experienced racer would blitz me at the track. I know my limitations too.

This is true. Can we not all agree to disagree without wishing anyone harm. I don't like seeing bikers wish each other harm. Mr Winja, it is not nice too wish crashes on other bikers. Nor is it nice for the rest of us to wish injury to Mr Winja, who manifestly is a biker also, and perhaps a better rider than some of us (certainly better than me anyway).
The Biker Gods tend to take note of such animosity and it invites a visit from their old friends Hubris and Nemesis.

Winja, just because someone else lowered themselves to making that sort of comment doesn't mean you have to as well. I know you couldn't give a fuck what anyone thinks of you or about you, and that I respect fully. However I still don't agree with wishing another rider would crash, but hey you probably don't give a fuck what I, or anyone else for that matter thinks. Thats your perrogative (sp?).
And not once have I seen you being concerned whether you appear cool or popular here and I assume that is the same in real life. But we are all someones brother/sister/daughter/son/mother/father/riding buddy whatever and the consequences of a crash go through more than just the person who crashes.
Also increases insurance premiums for us all too!
YOU SAID I HAVE NO TALENT , I HAVE PICS OF MY RACING WHERES YOURS?

Oh yawn.. yawn... How did I let myself get drawn into this dribble with you?
Lets put the record straight. I normally wouldn't get into a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent but you have a talent in bringing out the worse in people - see I just gave you credit for being talented!
1. I don't use obscenities on here since its just a case of pushing a F key here a U key here .. any monkey can be trained to do that... but what the fucks wrong with you. Take a pill and dissolve.
2. I didn't crash tonight, so get over it
3. Look back at my posts No. 25, 32,45 50 above. Where the hell did I say you had no talent. You said that you idiot - see your post 47 "I've got no talent next to Ray..." To which I replied "good to see you know a thing or two about riding" "all piss taking aside" I invited you to join us because I enjoy riding with fast riders and I sure don't get all upset like a big girl when others are faster. There are plenty around that can beat me. You expect me to apologise for not being as fast as you think you are-take another pill and fuck off even further than before.
4. Where the hell did I say I'm a hero. I said "any experienced racer would blitz me" Does that sound like hero worship. Or have you got your nose out of joint because I have a wheelie pic. and you think I'm bragging or something. Just happens to be one of the few pics I have from track days.
Now look what you done. You've made me swear online.
Instead of wishing complete strangers would crash you should focus on wishing for a personality, you're in dire need of one.
In the end as I said early I owe you no excuses or explanations for anything.
Some kind souls have suggested you apologise. Don't bother I know you wouldn't mean it. Now finish off those pills and don't come back in the morning. That's a joke by the way you dipshit, I don't wish you any harm.
No I have one wish - I hope you wake up and find your bike has turned into a Honda!

but how on earth would you accessorise your bike?? Silver helmets yes, but I don't think silver leathers, gloves, boots would be a very good look...
It would be a helluva way to stand out though...

With something that shiney the only real option is black.
Or, you could get the frame done in say powder blue, and use that as your colour to coordinate with your leathers. Helmet though should match the main colour sceme of the bike. Although (sticking with the powder blue frame idea) a silver helmet with powder blue custom design on it would cause it to match even more. Black and blue (with maybe a little silver if you're lucky) for the leathers, boots and gloves.
Now who wants to give me $22k so I can show you all how sexy it'd look.

The only real answer is ride naked.
That way you look impressive and your closer to the sexiest bike in the world thats affordable.

I thought the strap on convo was highly entertaining! NC30 gettin jiggy with WINJA.
Not as an attractive thought as having that Repsol bike in my posession, but still amusing.
BTW!!!! What is with Kawasaki :puke: pix on a Honda thread???? How dare you!!!!!
Anyone want to see a pic of my Mighty Honda complete with graphics kit that Alucard Draken helped me smuggle into the country?

Riiiight... look impressive... I think not :puke: . More likely embarrassing. And what a waste of money. Spend all that getting the bike, imediately the chicks are impressed, then you destroy the image by riding naked.
Wouldn't mind being shown how its done by one of the young ladies here... :D Think of yourselves as a modern version of Lady Godiva...

Dragging up an old thread here.
I was lucky enough to get to ride a k4 gixxer1000 back to back with a 05 repsol cbr1000. I got a 20 minute track session on both of them at Pukekohe.
To paint a qick picture --Lovely day dry track with a bit of debris on a couple of the corners. Ive been testing my SV650 race bike but got offered a ride on the two bikes.
My first impression of them both side by side was --Suzuki Mmm yumee
Honda--Holey shit that is one sexy looking bit of kit.
Easing the suzuki onto the track within 100m I felt a little trepidation-I was someone elses 15k machine . Straight into the first set of corners and I found myself trying too hard Leaning deeper than I needed to. expecting the bike to be like the 91 Gixxer1100 I last rode around this track. After just one lap I felt Totally at home and relaxed.
I spent the next 19 or so minutes haveing a total ball easing up to a reasonable fast touring type pace.Top speed I saw was 280 -Im not too sure how much it had left to go.I was actually disapointed-no with the speed more with the sense of speed You just have no idea you are going so darned fast.A compliment to suzukis smooth power delivery
Handling --OMG handling. I just could not believe how good that bike felt.
Pukekohe is not a track I usually get my knee down on but on the gixxer I was comfortably leaning it to knee on the ground. The lean angle is strictly defined by how far you are prepared to go
The brakes were totally no nonsense and totally confidence inspireing.
Every lap I was able to brake a little later and throw the bike around with a bit more confidence.
I was able to slice my way up and down through the gearbox without even thinking about it -relly slick and smooth.
I came back into the pits with a huge grin on my face wanting nothing more than to get back out there for some more laps.
Next session was on the honda and after the suzuki I was dead keen to get out there.
Immmediately it became clear the honda is more sharp edged with less fairing protection and a slightly harsher feeling engine.
Apsolutely razor sharp handling and the slight harshness gave a sense of speed and accceleration the suzuki diddnt give.
The brakes were in a world of their own -totally fade free and plenty of feel.
The smaller fairing was really noticeable down the back straight with a bit more helmet buffetting even in a full race crouch.
I had a hairy moment exiting the hairpin as I wouund on full power -a reasonable head shake
the gear box doesnt rate a mention-smooth and slick as you would expect.
I finished the session feeling like I'd worked harder than on the sazuki but with the feeling It would just get better and better.
To sum the two bikes up. If they could talk it'd be like this
The suzuki felt like an old freind who happens to be a super fit athlete.
The suzuk would say -- You wanna go for a ride mate--lets go I'm here for ya -as fast as you wanna go lets just go for it.
The Honda is a wise oriental sensei --also super fit
"Frosty san first you will learn to respect me --then I will teach you to go faster than you have ever been before"
With my level of riding skill and age I would choose the suzuki -I just don't think at this point I'm good enough to master the honda.

Yea mate with a 04 CBR asked to do a top gear roll on against my GSXR from 120k . Deal was done both flat to the stop's my GSXR took a bike length straight off & pulled another 1/2 to 220k . We stopped & he asked if I was in 5th I laughed Sorry Bud 6th gear all the way .1 sad new CBR owner . Them the break's . Bring on the 05 GSXR :Punk:

Oooooooo, a bike length and a half from 120k to 220kph - are you for real ?
At the end of the day, riding is 80% rider ability and 20% bike so does the performance difference really matter much. Not to me otherwise I would have been another sheep and got the GIXXER.

Deano...I envy you!!!
Everytime I go into Sawers I drool over the Repsol.
As for performance, who cares if it's a bike length slower than a gixer, I doubt that very few people would be able to ride to the limit where that little bit of extra performance actually matters and at least the Repsol looks good!
Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh at some stage.
