It looks to me like a ZXR 'homie' edition. I'am sure it says 'ruff rider' on the rear right fairing, but of course that may just indicate the condition of the bike to the general public, I'd definatly get it checked out before I handed any money over...

I am really interested in this bike, does anyone know who the seller is? I've sent him an e-mail, but he never seems to reply. Anybody reckon it's hot or anything is funny about it?

First thing is that it has been resprayed. Which means a 99% chance of crash damage cover up and a 1% chance of cosmetic upgrades.

Ask him if he has reciepts for all the new stuff...... and when you look at the bike check to see if the things actually look new.

Good Luck

Yeah the bike looks in real good nick and for that price it seems pretty reasonable, If I was you id go for a test ride tho, Id never buy a bike from a private seller unless I had taken it for a spin but from apart from that, it looks pretty mint and I can tell you those ZXR's are excellent bikes to ride

I think it has an engine niggle.

I may be wrong but make sure you get a FULL check.

is the colour not an original colour? would you pay 3,000 for this bike? I am keen on the bike, but the guy doesn't reply making it really difficult to view.

Nope it isnt original and the indicators look different - might be a good buy but you really shouldnt hand ANY money over without riding and getting a mech test done on it.

Ok, the main issues that you should look out for are;

Cam Chain - Because Kawasakis mainly use chains to drive the cams they need to be regularly checked, the worse thing is the cam chains on the ZXR250's are SHIT to put it simply, and if not regulary adjusted then they can really cause some major damage so its always good to check for bulges in the head block as this shows that the cam chain hasnt being looked after and its wearing through the head !

And thats about it, they are pretty well put together bikes!

Here are some pictures of most of the different colors;

Hope this helps!

hahah ghetto bike!!!
its still on there and theres 8 unaswered questions and a cuple that he has graced with his time to write a reply. Do check that things are new because when i got my one a month or so ago, i found that bike was not nearly as good as the guy on trademe claimed i did get him down to $2400 from $3000 but my bike is a 89 with 50k on clock
I had to get new bak disc
new rego, back tyre, and now i find the alternator is fukd.... thats being fixed tmr i hope...
on the up side the motor is mint :niceone:

go to the post shop or police station they can run the reg and tell you if the guy is the actual owner and history of owners, confirm milage to some extent etc for a few $.
be careful and if you dont know how to check the bike over take it to a bike shop... $100 for a detail check can save you many more 100s in a long run, as this bike does seem a little too good a value.

I just bought the bike for $2200. I haven't paid my trademe account so I couldn't bid at all. he wants me to hit the buy now since the trades been finished, even though I didn't pay $3k for it.

check this out, it's got the problems listed on it.
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=224802#post224802

I reckon the odometers been wound back as the discs say there's 10-20,000 k's more than it does on the clock.

a amusing thing I found when I opened the compartment under the rear seat, there was a great big hole on the bottom. a little to many burn outs I reckon.

Do u reckon I could hit the buy now button and get some feedback :)

my brother was considering buying this bike. We sent him emails and left questions on trademe. Never replied.

Was going to use the "buy now" on Sunday night, but re-considered. I thought there might have been problems and didn't want to take the risk.

So the bike is pretty much been sold? Good that somebody from KB bought it. :niceone:

Bit sad about the problems with it, we were right about it, but will help you out to fix it up best we can.

Yikes, maybe i was lucky I didn't hit that buy now on the bike, but i suppose for 2,200 it wasn't too bad? Good luck with fixing it! Is that why he never replied my questions... Time to start searching again. :)

yeah, I'm a bit lost in the problems. Nobody has strait discs and I've got to find out whether the wheels are aligned properly. any help would be greaty appreciated.
Trademe still hasn't credited my account after having sent the cash through on monday. I hope the guy takes it off the net soon otherwise he could be in a whole world of shyt.

on a more depressing note, does anyone know of a good frame specialist in auckland? I was given an estamit of $300 to straiten it. is that realstic or are second hand strait discs easier to find than that price?

Get them straightened if you can! They cost 600$ for third party ones. and around 1k for OEM.

As for wheel allignment? I guess you mean rear, I know people say the lines are all out of wack but the ones on mine are fine, otherwise use a ruler to measure the distance the bolt connection is on both sides.

Also check how tight the chain is, if it is real stiff and has no free play then you need to loosen it by bringing the rear wheel closer to the frame.

I will help you out if I can next weekend.

HAHA my friend used to own this bike!
He puts Ruff Ryders on all his bikes

He was the one who 'ghetto'd' it up

The paint is quite shotty (he's very lazy), but when he had it the engine ran mint.

Yes there probably were too many burnouts...

I just saw on trademe that somebody pressed the 'buy now' button. Have you possession of this bike? Or did you press the buy now button? I hope you did, if not there is going to be some trouble.

If the deal has been concluded, he should have just removed the auction from trademe.

Good luck.

Spaz... I was just in at corsa motorcycle dismantlers (www.corsa.co.nz) yesterday getting some 'straight thru exhaust action' ;) and he offered me a front disc (I did not need it... mine are fine) and he is usually rather cheap when it comes to parts. Get his number off that site and give him a ring tomorrow during normal buisness hours.

I pimp this guy out tooo much lol :D
