How many km's did you do in the first week when you bought your brand new bike??

I just got back from running in a brand new ZX-6RR for Johnny Hepburn, and in the space of 48 hours I clocked up 1552 kms. Had a ball, the ZX-6 is an awsome bike and I am very nearly considering changing brands.

That's a top effort for 48 hours. Sore bum is it? Walking OK.
Last year I collected my new bike and took the next day off work and rode pretty much none stop to get the run-in over and done with.

October last year rode the 888 from Hamilton to Arrowtown in a day and a half.
Left about 1230 Thursday and arrived about 6 on Friday.
I took the route that had the ferry on it so I had a bit of a break.

25km! :killingme

Factory failed to insert a spacer in the rear wheel assembly and the bearings failed. Bike was in the shop for a few nights waiting for parts to come down from Auckland. Bike shop doesn't carry spacers because those parts don't fail - well, unless you call missing failed! They also didn't have any other FXR's on the floor they could strip parts off.

Did about 1200 as I recall. I wanted the 1st service out of the way so that I could travel at Christmas. That probably isn't the ideal way to do it, I understand that you should have lots of heat cycles, and more varied running that you can get on the average trip.

Many moons ago in another life in the capital I did things like a ride over the Rimutakas and frequent rides to Makara which type of trips probably make for better running in.
