I have the opportunity to tow an empty bike trailer to wellington this week, and return with two of three spaces free on it. I am fairly flexible when and which way I return home (to the bay of plenty.)

It occurs to me, that if someone gets in the crap, then "bike on trailer, ass out of sling and into warm vehicle, getting taken home" is a particularly reassuring proposition for them.

I'd only want gas money, but I think the alternative would be far worse.

Anyway, organisers - feel free to use me as a resource. I DO NOT KNOW if I am even going yet. Just fishing through options.

Moderators, move this to where it belongs please.

Cool offer Steve. Won't need to take you up on it myself, but that is very kind of you to put it out there.

Well its a little bit selfish too. I could actually do with some gas money for the trip hehe, but we help each other.

I can carry some gear or people on the way down too. Possibly full up on the way back if I end up with two bikes, riders, and a pillion.

I don't , of course, hope that someone will come to grief, but statistically you know the way it goes, and the weather looks like shit as well, so there is likely to be one or two. :o A warm dry Hilux Surf is great place after the plastic has bitten the road.

Considerations ;

I haven't even booked the trailer yet, so I might be pissing in the wind yet.

I only have one set(4) of tie downs too, and they will be in use on the way back.

Are there any BIKEOI vynil stickers available for my rear window?

I can throw in some other gear - tools, warm clothes, food, tyre kit, what else?

If any one from North Taranaki gets stuck on the return trip on Tuesday, anywhere from about Bulls on, my son has a ute set up to carry bikes - just in case , and can get someone to head down to do a recovery - same deal, just needs his diesel costs covered.

027 555 7016 if you need it.

(Edit) Has to be Tuesday only - the only driver he'd trust can't be available any other day.

Gotta place to stay Steve or is it just a daytrip for ya?PM sent.

I will more useful to those who need to return a bike way the hell up-country. I'll leave the local boys to pick up broken bikes, and then I can help with transport for it back to your home town.

IF I can get to wellington, I can return via gisborne, taupo, or new plymouth - doesn't bother me particularly which. If there is a huge conflict in destination like one bike to go to napier and one to new plymouth, then I will have to take the most sensible load I can get, ie two bikes to the same area. That could be a tough call at the time.

Lets hope I'm not used at all.

Just to add my 2 cents - I have a single bike trailer here also, due to the nature of my work and shift I am on I am unable to help with towing it, but should anyone require use of it, then it is available.

WOF and Reg current, it's only a small bugger, but it carried my 700 intruder well, so that'd be about the biggest bike you could pop on it.

Could possibly travel as far as Hamilton to uplift worst case scenario, so long as I get some beauty sleep - don't finish work til 1830 each night.

Ride safe those making the journey - you lucky buggers! :bleh:

I cant get the trailer until thursday, and even that is not gauranteed. Unless there is another 2-3 bike trailer available in the central north island I'm screwed. I'll just take pot luck and see what happens. If I'm on the way back sometime in the next week or so, I'll still cart what I can for ya.

Best I can do. It's time I had my own trailer.
