Bike choices?

Hey everyone,

I am looking at bikes to buy for my wife, but just need some opinions from some of the shorter girls on here :)

She has quite short legs, and finds my rgv150 a bit hard to ride (having to stand on her tip toes when stopped). She seems to find my CBR250 a good height but it is quite a big bike.

Anyone else have similar issues and what did you end up getting? Is it just something she will have to get used to?

Get your wife to spend a day cruising around the bike shops and sit on every bike she likes the idea of - a majority of bikes these days can have lowering kits added to them and sometimes it is simply lowered by the spring.

Your wife will know what feels right for her - I myself now ride a ZX6R and found seat height way too high but after taking out spacer at top of spring its a great height, I started on a RD250LC which was great learning bike.

There's always the cruiser type styles that have the lower seats but it does depend on what sort of power she's after as well.

I think she is after something that she can keep up with the boys on :p -we are all only on 250's at the moment so that shouldn't be too hard :) I will take her around n see what she likes. Thanks for the advice

Most mid-sized cruisers will suit shorter lady riders. Mrs H is 5'2"-and-a-bit (in the very old money) and rides a Bandit 650 that has had its seat modified by McDonalds Motor Trimmers and the ride height and suspension Robert Taylorised. Her riding boots also have slightly built-up soles.

Failing that, try letting some air out of the tyres. My Shiver fits Mrs H very well when the rear is dead flat.

250 Rebel. Cheaper than a Virago, good for open road stuff, low seat height and center of gravity that make sit real eassy to manouver.

Suzuki make a nice low - easy to ride machine. The Intruder 250LC.

They are very popular with shorter riders !!

My partner has a pre dropped and dented VT 250 Honda which has served her very well over the years. Good in town and not too bad on the open road either.
She is about 5'2" and can move it around easily......

not sure if your still looking but have to agree with the suzuki vl250. (am baised as I have one) but the eliminator would also be a good option if she is looking for a cruiser. :sunny:

The Mighty Eliminator doesn't have forward pegs like a crusier does. It's got a nice natural sit-up riding style.

I got a Kawasaki ZZR250 and I find I can reach the ground easier than most other bikes I have been on and it can keep up with the big boys easier as well :)
