View Full Version : After BIKEOI by Car?

should the ACC still throw on a huge levy, might it be worth using cars for the non-peaceful protests?

It would certainly be a shitload safer.
It could help get around the negative press in relation to bikes protesting.
It would take up even more of the roads...
Would give plenty of room for banners etc...
Could give the impression that car drivers are also annoyed at the "prospective" changes to the ACC and that they are supporting motorcycles...

and on and on...

If not, then why?

Fully behind that. If only for the extra congestion it will cause.

Might be a bit hard to make the connection between angry bikers and bikers-driving-cars.

Unless we all wear our helmets...

... or strap some angry bikers to the outside of the car. Perhaps run into a group of them, then leave them spreadeagled on the outside?

Flat Deck truck came to mind, but then changes about 4 years back made it illegal to have people in dedicated frieght carrying vehicles without proper seats

Wonder how they get exemptions for the 7's parade to ride in/on trailers?

I see:
2 cars leading the charge in both lanes
10 or so LOUD bikes in the middle, 2 abreast in each lane (4 in total)
2 cars or utes (trucks even) at rear, all doing 20kms along the road, banners saying 'dont like congestion? support the local Motorcyclists, because they support you by freeing up the road' etc........

All for it but bikes need to be present
Cages can be safety barriers

Swathed in prortest posters, with nude blondes driving em!!!!!

i would be happy to come along.

maybe look at buying a wrecked bike that has been hit by a car and strap it to the flatdeck ute?

In ways that's kinda the point... The levy won't stop with us, and we're only protesting for us just now... should we not stop it, why not then go for mass disruption, get the ACC campaign running properly including cagers, truckers etc... (MY GOD CARS AND BIKES TOGETHER, CATS AND DOGS KISSING, MASS HYSTERIA... IT'LL BE THE END OF THE WORLD)... and if that happens, it's the last place you wanna be riding a bike... well it's the last place i'd like to be doing it!!!

I disagree with one part of that... we shouldnt be discriminating based on hair colour, nude blondes or brunettes should be driving! Just not gingas :bleh:

So, set a parameter Mashy mate

2 lead cars, 20 bikes, nude women, and followed by 2 Mack tractor units (no trailers needed) as TEC/ride security?

If this can be arranged, for impact, do the exact same convoy in each of the 5 main cities on the same day in the 'to work' rush hour
Dont hold anyone up getting home...counterproductive

But imagine 5,000 'im late to work' phone calls nationwide on the same morning!!!!

Aucks needs 3 convoys, Welly needs 2.....(puts on planning cap and starts networking all over again)

I had thought it through a little further, where you're having the traffic at a stand still, have people (read bikers maybe) walking the streets of static traffic, canvassing passers by, drivers etc... gathering the thoughts of the people, educating them all about the potential for ACC hikes across the board!!! find out what the public would like to have done with THEIR health system...

Now, the "petition" would have to be an exceedingly well thought out document, something that can be printed onto a single side of paper and formatted in such a way that it's tick boxes etc... that way the "petition" can be filled in uber quickly (less harrassment) and the results can be OCR'd into a DB for some "real" analysis...

there's more to it than a mere mortal such as myself can take on (hence the suggestion)... More than happy to check out, i mean, interview the glamour section of the protest...

with a sign above it asking who should be paying for the accident... it's that kind of imagery that's needed to gain maximum publicity... shame, but true!

If its a big enough truck maybe have a car crshed into a bike on it even...
instead of just the bike..

Don't see the point of the crashed bike senario really-sorry folks. I DO see the point in making sure the general public is well aware how it will impact THEM if bikers are forced off their bikes.

I know what ya mean and whilst it seems like a joke, could you imagine pulling back the curtains and seeing a scene of death (not just a bike, but kids under cars, people falling of ladders impaled on fences etc...), similar to the style of looking in through a shop window... As i mentioned before, you need a striking image to get your point across, start debate, picture telling a thousand words etc... couple that with the education side of things and you have quite a powerful weapon? Reason enough Frosty?

I reckon a mass bikoi in cars, would be a good idea. Somehow(flags) identify that the whole line of cars is bikers forced into cages cos of ACC levies.

Ok heres my POV --I see a scene of carnage -bike all busted up etc quite frankly my thought would be -'well there ya go this is WHY acc wants bigger levvies for bikes" Kinda like with that poor sod that crashed on saturday media focus from one station was on the accident not on the 300 bikes that were peacefully protesting

I agree. Crashing too much is the image we want people to remember less. Whilst there are plenty of bike crashes caused by cars we don't want to parrot that line too much given the amount we crash without cars.

I certainly agree with involving some cars in it as well as bikes in order to highlight that most bikers are already paying ACC for more than one vehicle.

Heh, i had a feeling that that last line would make it in there... hence why i'm suggesting that we also have kids crushed under cars, people falling off ladders, women falling of chairs whilst hanging their new curtains whilst all the time discussing shoes with their mate (it's easily done apparently :jerry:) etc... but i fully understand the point you're making and don't disagree with it at all...

me Id suggest another line-- A full on rugby scrum
With every player wearing a shirt with a big target on it
The sighn simply saying -- ACC---ARE THEY NEXT???

Definitely. Government is trying to privatise ACC and we're bravely defending it. We just happen to be the first victims of their dastardly scheme. As a continuation of the "Who's next?" theme I like it a lot.

VERY Nice!!! even better if it could be the All Blacks and The All White(motherfu***r)s... It's potentially going to affect everyone, why not try to pull in some of the higher profiled people to fight the case!

Just on that point...does anyone know what the numbers are for car crashes, single or multiple? We have an approx 50% each way. How similar (or not) are the car stats?
