My flat mate is missing and hasn't been seen by me since 9:30pm Thursday 12th November. I'm very worried for his safety. His name is Perry F McCarney he is 48 and about 5 feet 7 . He has gone missing from our home in Fairlands ave in Waterview.

If you could spread the word of this to anyone and keep mentioning the name to anyone that you know

I am very concerned for him

Thank you everyone

Dan

How long does someone need to be missing before the police will be interested?
Sounds serious? Obviously you have tried mobile #'s etc?

It sounds like you have done everything you can in getting the police involved. Is this out of character for him?

Let me know if there is anything that I can do. I don't know what - but even if you just need to chat. I was the relatively new rider talking with Mr Goff at Colemans (just so you can put a face to the name).

Well the police found him alive in Heron park nearby and he's in a mental clinic now

But what shocks me and angers me is after speaking to the mental clinic they said he'll be home by the weekend. Now this is his third attempt at doing this. I have no faith in the mental health system if all they do is basically patch and dispatch. I was amazed he was home after 3 days of his second attempt.

Who agrees with me that the mental health system needs a shake up if this is what happens

your thoughts please

Pfft!

Often when we take a patient to EPS and drop them off?

They just about beat us back to the Riviera of the South.

Mad to sane in .05 of a second.

Or the other one... Bear in mind, "he" and "she" are referred to here jointly......

"He's not mad, he is bad..."

Which interpreted, means,

"We have no beds availalbe, so he is your problem..."

Hey Dan,

I've just responded to you via PM (actually two because apparently there is a length limit). Hopefully it gives you a little more information. I was reluctant to post here as it doesn't seem fair to Perry to engage in that sort of discussion on an open forum. Having said that, you are welcome to re-post, forward, or share with others what I wrote if you want to. I'll leave that up to you (but consider yourself to have my permission as per the site rules).

Cheers,
P.

Mate all I can say is that I hope one day Perry understands the help you are giving him. It took literally decades for my Uncle to end up in a place where he is happy, safe, well balanced, respected and cared for. If it were not for the efforts of My late Grandmother (maysherestinpeace) then he I suspect would just another sad statistic. Shortly before his Mum died, my uncle took the chance to quietly thank the members of his family that had fought for sooo long to get him the help he so desperately needed.

Ask for help mate, I know in the past your flatmate has been the subject of mockery and derision on at least one forum that he was on.
Im sure there are some KBer's that can point you in the right direction.

Just don't try to do it all on your own.

Why on earth would you choose to live with a nutjob?

Goodness knows most 'sane' flatmates are bad enough.

One thing I've come to realise in life is that we are all varying degrees of "nutty".

When was that?

It happened about ten years ago in Auckland.

Malcom Beggs was axed to death by his flatmate Lachlan Jones.

There should be more info on the web. Suggest you search through the online archives at www.nzherald.co.nz

I don't mind being utterly nutty....just glad I am not stupid.
And being a nutter helps me survive in this mad mad MAD world

A sign of the times....once we used LSD to make the world look weird, and now we use Prozac to make the world look real...

And on the subject...have sympathy on the poor Tasmanian's...they can never decide on anything....always in two minds about every thing...

OK, this is a long shot. This is obviously an old thread, but Perry is my brother. I live in Wales and he was in touch with me on and off by email. The last one I received was in January, though I have sent him several since which he hasn't responded to. His birthday was 3rd March and the card I sent was returned - Not At This Address. His phone is disconnected.

I'm desperately worried about his safety. If there is anyone on this forum who still knows him or is in contact with him, please ask him to contact me - dee.mc@live.co.uk
