Once the euphoria of the bikeoi success is over should we not start demanding answers from our politicians to some fairly damning questions?
Such as:
1. Given the wildly inaccurate data presented by ACC and the consequently flawed recommendation is the ACC board in fact fit to govern? How could they get something so basic so wrong?
2.Why has this board used public funds to pursue an agenda outside of the ACC charter?
3. Why did ACC subvert the course of a democratic and neutral submission process by placing large biased adverts in national papers towards the end of the submission period?
4. Why are ACC officials appending "ACC Insurance" next to their signature? Where does this word insurance appear in any ACC document?
I would really like to see a push for an official inquiry into this whole sorry saga and why tax payers funds have been used in such a haphazard and incompetent manner.
Time to push back.

Yep. classic military axiom. Reinforce success.
The campaign began today.
Before this was just warming up.
We are at war.

I saw Mr J Key on TV this morning being questioned about the ACC Levey on bikes. He stated 'if you look at the figures it's probably justified' then went on to clearly point out that it is only a ACC recommendation as they do every year and cabinet decides in February what increase is given.
He did indicate that Nick Smith thinks it will be a 'compromise'.
So I'll be sending letters off to National party MP's.

Do we need non KB, or private areas to discuss this? I don't expect all the KB shirts at the various rallies went unnoticed and anyone with 1/2 a brain will be checking various discussions and keeping the Minister and the strategists abreast of discussions

I understand your point.
But I'd be happy if they actually were reading KB - it would give them a good insight into just how unjustified we feel the increase is.

I think they know that already. I also think they are likely to be a number of steps ahead of us and are managing their way toward their desired outcome.
If it was me, I'd have it all laid out as a plan over the next election period or two. A few key milestones to make sure announcements are made at the appropriate times all the while nudging it toward their desired goal, at a pace to best suit them.
So we need to anticipate that, plan in private and pop up at the most inopportune times. Protest rides in from airports when foreign dignatories happen to arrive for example.
Ride to rule. 95 kph, 1 bike per lane right across every major arterial motorway in the country... all at a nominated time every Saturday or Sunday
That kind of stuff - raise awareness, piss off the Pollies.
I've posted a few things to www.tui.co.nz (http://www.tui.co.nz) as well - it'd be GREAt to get some stuff up on the billboard. Any other easy (and free) outlets?

Further into the future the Rugby World Cup gives us a very public platform to use for protest. In the meantime the parking protests (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=112831) may be a good opportunity to swap ideas on other protest actions.

If they read on some forum on the Interweb that 600 bikers are going to (legally) fuck up the car parking at some international sporting event, I bet they will be knocking on your cap-in-hand ready to negotiate real quick.
I also think they are likely to be a number of steps ahead of us and are managing their way toward their desired outcome. It doesn't matter if the tail is wagging the dog - the outcome is still similar. And we get tricked into some manoevre, then we simply take more dramatic action next time. We can't lose.

No having a go mate but I believe we can be suckered into digging our own graves, buying the ammo and tying each other to the firing squad post by an experienced strategist.
We underestimate them at out peril.
Combine that with "might is right"... and we really do have a challenge on our hands. We need to identify what advantages we can, and one of them is not showing the opponent our plans.

Interestingly enough, there is a closed social group on here that may or may not be strategising behind closed doors so to speak. :innocent:

I don't. NZ Governments have seldom had to plan long term action and when presented with reasonable resistance always drop the ball and panic.
The big issue facing us isn't the levy increase, it's the change to the ACC regs being pushed through at the moment that will make us "responsible" for our accidents and injuries irrespective of blame, plus it allows levy changes without consultation. That change potentially opens the floodgates for ACC to further segment risk elements in NZ Society into separate accounts and extract more money accordingly.

Fair call - I don't know what level of strategy that really have but the very existance of strategists on their team makes me tread with caution. Best case - they're not strategising and we are... worst case they are and we are...
There's no loss for us if we are prepared

Don't worry, they're all "trained" in NZ "Universities".
My dead Granny could out-strategise Victoria Uni Pol-Sci graduate students.

I wish i was all powerful, oh how i wish... i've said it before, it is imperative to get rid of the ACC boys club completely, because you can't update systems, processes and procedures if noone wants to listen.
I would almost lay my life on the line that levies will increase if you have the same dick heads making the same recommendations... and these guys will not leave quietly, every dirty trick in the book will be used as Mr Jobsworth tries to defend his lifestyle (and not us)!
