Sorry, debating a guy at the office, I know this is something I should already know...
I see here:
http://www.acc.co.nz/about-acc/statistics/acc-injury-statistics-2008/8-motor-vehicle-account/is0800143
This:
For 2007/07 to 2008/06...
Bicycles: New Claims=289, Active Claims=567, Cost ($000)=12,573
But I've also seen claims elsewhere of:
"In 2008 there were 1,170 bicycle accidents and 36 deaths."
(Compared to "In 2008 there were 1,475 motorcycle accidents and 50 deaths.")
Now, the 289 is for a July-June year, but it's still a year, so why the difference to the 1,170?
Is the difference on versus off road bicycle accidents?
What I'm hoping someone can help me with is a reference to an "official" site (e.g. ACC) showing the full cost of bicycles, i.e. a number to compare with the:
Motorcycles: New Claims=1336, Active Claims=3173, Cost ($000)=62523
...that is shown at the page referenced above.
(Just looking for comparable numbers, not a debate (here) about who should pay, or how much.)
Cheers, and Thanks,
P.S. Freakin' AWESOME being part of it yesterday. Best "event" I've ever been involved in. What a sight!
