Brunch at Toppies ....

One of the problems that currently goes un-noticed is the effect that this will have on businesses that rely on motorcycle trade.

I have spoke with the owner of Toppys and they are more than happy for a large group of bikers to come over for a Sunday morning jaunt and make a few statements around the issues and support that local businesses get from us the riders.

I will speak to media and local pollies about gaining their support on the day ...

This will be a rally!!

Leaving both places at 11 am .... so if you wanna chat be there earlier than that!

Brunch at Toppys -

Meeting point - for the Wellington Folks - http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=2268&day=2009-11-29

Caltex Rimutaka - 11 am

Wairarapa folk
Wild Oats - 11 am - http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=2269&day=2009-11-29

This post will be updated as I get details sorted .... ARE YOU IN ... THE WAR IS NOW ON!!!!

Two flyers now loaded - one advertising the ride, the other some focuses behind the ride.

I have no idea what you're organising...here are their email addresses. My boss is in the local Ulysses club so I can let them know plus anyone else I run into. Wife works for local paper so I'll see what I can do there.

Dave Anderson: dave@daveanderson.co.nz
Grant Langlands: office@honda-motorcycles.com or info@honda-motorcycles.com
John Hayes: john.hayes@national.org.nz or john.hayes@national.org.nz or john.hayes@parliament.govt.nz

Saw Gary at the Rimutex coming back from bikeoi so no doubt he'll turn up.

Show them that you mean business and you are in for the long haul.

I don't think that parking on the grass is very good ... we need to avoid any damage to everything ... squares huge and this isn't a parking demonstration ... but a demonstration of how we support local businesses.

There`s actually a bit about the ride in todays Wairarapa Times Age.

"Bikers set to stage ACC protest in Wairarapa"
"Small firms will lose out from the hikes, riders warn"

Points out the reason behind the ride, Welly riders meeting up with the Wairarapa riders, and a bit about the organiser Kari Lloyd.
Right on!

What an awesome awesome day.

30 plus bikes met at Rimutex ... 12-15 at Carterton ... we all rode over and went alternate routes to Martinborough ... some down western lakes and us lazier plebs down the main route ...

Arrived at Tuis (the old name was Toppies) .... and ensured we got coffee discounts (thanks to the owner .. great guy) .... everyone ordered chatted and sat/stood around ...

Got up and did a speech ... focused on the interesting points of local businesses - charity rides - statistics etc ...

People dispersed to various points of the earth having fulfilled the needs of their tummies ... and we rode off to the Gladstone pub for a cold one before attacking the hill once again to come home (no I didn't see that bloody cop on the Haywards)

Thanks everyone for your support .. hope you all had a good ride/drink/feed and got home as you arrived - Rubber Side Down.

Where's the best pace to find those rides on KB?

I was all set to go, but then it turned out that my mate's weekend became free. Ans as he just got his learners, and was really keen to go for a ride, I thought I'd chuck him on my 250 and go for a quiet fang around the bays.

(BTW...yay for chocolate fish! I didn't realise they had found a place! )

It was a great ride and he made me proud! :)

I'm definitely keen to come along next time you guys go over the hill!

Cheers
