I am working at Honda next week and there are a few lads there who would like to go to NZ
Myself , I did play around with bikes , now I design bits ( office , no stress ,,,)
Also and I am sorry to say , The NZ race scene is still boys playing with toys so career wise is a no go er
Personally I would like to take a young lad in the bucket series apply , the level of professionalism that you and I have both experienced and start the young fella off along the track ..just a dream I suppose
I can be off assistance with contacts over here if you need
Kind Regards Stephen

give me a call in 10 years ill be ready then!
the nz race scene is big enough for a bike mechanic! for god sakes some of the bikes are close to 200hp.....you need to know what you're doing with suspension and stuff if with power like that.
Go visit a bike dealer and see if one of the head mechanics is interested for a holiday job.

I have to admit its not all turn up and go theres alot of behind the scenes in New Zealand alot more than bucket scene that you mention not insulting bucket riders now, But have you seen our 125 class look at the Steve Wards etc making them things fly,
The New Zealand scene no you wont make any money unless its street races but to say the scene is no good is a dumb comment look at Gareth jones Dutch Champion and was racing superbikes here
Dom Jones raced here now look AMA racing

Now why would I be a tosser ???
Do you work in the industry? Have you ever worked at a higher level as say a mechanic ? Engineer ??
Lets try an easy one
Have you EVER SEEN ( yes photos off the internet are allowed , ) a proffesional race team ????
I can answer yes to all of those..for twenty five years ...
When you see money in action you will know
So I suggest until you know ... try not using the big words ... they are tricky ...

Prove it.
Ive got kids on 80 cc Yz 80s at the local kart track with better turned out bikes and pits,
There are a handful busting a gut to try and make it work ... sorry ,,
last time I was there Ruapuna ,,, with a handful of bikes ,,, and a hotdog stand ,,,,,,, ( as Ive said before many times ( paeroa is a hidden Gem
Wanganui IMHO not as good ...but still fantastic
but not worth sinking serious coin into for the returns ,
not that the spectator or industry ROI is very good here but its can be made to work
mate of mine who owns Nitron shocks used racing and the bike show to break into the Jap market and now is doing very well thank very much , was looking for an Australasian importer last I heard .
Though ( as again I have said , if the bar was raised in the bucket class the levels of skills of engineers ( kiwi talent , and rider s as a feeder to 125 ,,etc ) would be fantastic ,,,
carry on ,,as you were ,,,didn't mean to hijack this thread ,,
but nor will I back down ... when a spade is clearly a spade .

jeez I must try these flippant remarks more often
Garath Jones, Dominic Jones are where??? OVERSEAS
So are some incredibly talented Bike engineers ,,,in fact isn't the guy who calls the technical stuff on Motogp a New ZEALANDER
but do you see Honda flying in ... err anyone ,,,to attend any national meeting???
why is that i WONDER
It could be made to work ...every things there ,,
NZ as a country has a wicked reputation here in japan. I know the what the street races are like ,, Just as good as any overseas event ...
So why isn't it happening ??? why did Casey Stoner come from Australia ???
Stephen
Sorry thats the last high jack ,,,I will now return you to your usual thread ....( or we can start a new one ?)

1) Its just possible that Honda dont fly here in their lier jets for our national series becuase they sell more bikes out of one shop in California than they sell to the entire New Zealand market....
2) I would be interested in doing the numbers over the comparison of world champions per head of population ( NZ= 4 million versus / Jap = 128million) that each country has produced........ Maybe one of our Kiwibikers can run those for us.
3) Do the right thing and fall on your Samurai Sword.......
4) Geez i am really looking forward to playing the host now in the rugby world cup......

3 very talanted Men have contacted me mate, thanks guys. I would ride any bike that any of these men have worked on!!!!
Might find all of them work in the race scene to do.
Ivan, of here! Is going to be the tyre man at the Sth Island rounds for any Pirelli user FOC!!!!! for the use of my tyre machine and fitting work, ( But YOU will be buying him a beer of a burger or some thing to say thanks) He will travell with me to all the Sth Island events, Might even let him do some skids on the spare bike on the Friday unofficual rounds for some experience of the Sth Island tracks.
This year is going to be a lot of fun:sunny:
