Our man JunkManJoe gets around, and sometimes gets himself in a bit deeper than expected.

At Ocean Beach recently he decided to see how deep a puddle was, and discovered it was a bit deeper than expected.

last night i went with a mate out to his dads farm.

whiles looking around in the sheds, i saw a small bike part buried against the rear wall.

excuse me sir... would you like to sell ths bike.
make me an offer he says.
so i un covered it,
yea looks ok.
turn the key, cough, cough splutter.....putt, putt, fart , shit and a bit of crap few out the pipe :eek5:, and it finily fired up..:woohoo:

so a deal was made,
dozens of beer exchanged...so to speak..

so i turn up home and my wife says,,,,,what the fuk is that pile of crap doing on your ute..:bash:
i say not much...

any how, spent most of the day pulling the bike apart, cleaning fixing, and getting the frame ready for a lick of paint..

Hmmm, wouldn't a performance smoker just foul up constantly while exploring and faffing about?
You don't seem to have those issues on the DT, but then the DT's design spec isn't as a performance vehicle is it.

Ive had this (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=260826330) on my watchlist for ages. It's been at that price for probably at least 4 months and hasn't sold.

my sons KDX doesnt foul plugs even after hours of tight single track. All 2 strokes will 'load up' a bit and get a little stumbly with lots of pottering - but thats easily solved with a quick blast every now and then. If the oil ratio is right and the jetting ok - plug fouling should not occur. Small dingers are much more entertaining than small 4 strokes

shoot - that bike youre looking at looks like jmj's new toy

there are so many cool places to take a small bike locally - you've got to get one

I did my bucket racer in purple, cause all the other colours were taken. That super cheap paint is pretty crap though. First time i rode the bike the paint came off all over my leathers and I'd done a proper sand, undercoat and paint job on it.

As marks says, they'll only foul plugs if improperly jetted and never revved. It's hard not to rev a <250 2T !!

I knew you'd say that :)

Shane... performance rider... no argument & not the point. He'd probably get around the course on his skateboard faster than me. :D

KDX is in the same "performance" class as say, an XR. Either can be (or were) highly competitive, but also make great trail bikes. They are not finicky highly-focussed prima donnas.

Padmei
21st February 2010, 16:50
I'd say that Kdx will be on many peoples watchlist. It's the kind of bike a lot of people wouldn't mind having hanging around in the shed for the occasional spirited piece of riding. It will be intersting to see what it sells for.

I think having a smaller machine for the knarly rides is the way to go. It opens the country up more and the big monsters can be saved for the metal and the longer trips away. Keep it up Joe, it's going to be a good'un when you have finished mate..:)
