When was the last one you remember?

What got me thinking was an ad on TV for the new Wolfmother album and it reminded me very much of the seventies style of album cover art. Unfortunately due to CD poularity I reckon we've lost alot of the strength the art used to have. There's lots of good cover art, but I don't think it's as instantly recognizable as it once was.

Where's the next "Electric Lady land" or "Dark Side Of The Moon" or (dare I say it?) Tubular Bells going to come from?

"The Magician's Birthday" - Uriah Heap. Of all the albums I had, that had the best artwork.

There was also lotsa artwork inside - it was one of those folding album covers.

There maybe a return to that, with some CDs having books of artwork included, Sure, it's smaller, but some of it's pretty good, like Margaret Urlich's "Second Nature", or the 'book' that "Pulse" came in. The trouble with these CDs/DVDs is that they (and the trendyoid cardboard covers) don't friggin fit in any of my CD/DVD racks! :angry2:

Any Tool album has some pretty memorable artwork. Like the cd with the 3d illusion thing (like u get on school rulers etc) where if you tilt it back and forward you can see a man blowing himself. :D

I read somewhere how the artist who did the Metallica 'Load' album cover used cows blood and his own semen. Or was that cows semen and his own blood. I forget. Anyway, it definately suited the album title. ;)
