View Full Version : Lowering handlebars

Now time for a thread for me.

I'm in the process of looking for a new bike while I wait for my insurance payout. Got the chance to ride a few of my mates/guys at work bikes and the 250 hornet it looking to be a keeper.

ONLY thing is (other than the pitful exhaust note  ) is the seating position, what would be the best way to go about making it more forward like my old hyosung. I was thinking maybe lowering the handlebars but I have no idea how much it would cost etc etc.

Just throwing a few ideas around as I still have quite a bit of time to think about it.

Cheers in advance. :Punk:

Buy some different bars with a different bend.

Varies depending on what you want, but Renthal handlebars are 120-150 dolllars for most streetbikes.

Have a look at an accessories website.

You could even put clip ons if you wanted to.

Around $40-$50 for a set of 7/8" steel bars. Any bike shop should be able to help.

Ride it for a bit before you chop it around. Upright bars kinda grow on ya after a while.

I've got Renthal Streetfighters on the Zed and they've made all the difference to comfort and steering. The Renthals are stiffer and lighter than the stock bars. Makes for reduced effort and better precision.

Not to hijack the thread but I'm about to buy some renthals (ultra low) for my SV and was wondering about bar end plugs - the renthal ones seem to cost half as much again as the bars. What are you guys using - the renthals or something else (the factory bar end weights don't fit the renthal bars and don't want to modify them to fit)?

Plenty of websites selling $20 pairs of bar ends.

Just a thought, would putting clip ons or ultra low bars on adversely effect the handling?

renthal bars have small internal diameters, so most 7/8ths bar ends will not fit. there are some out there tho.

Most bar ends come with multiple sets of rubber bushes to get around that issue.
