2 or 4 stroke 250 -or keep my 400

i currently own a zzr400 ,have had it for a few months ,but want to get my bike licence soon.I see 3 options ,keep my zzr -it was cheap and its quick (to me n e way) .its been good to me ,i havnt been pulled up an iv (sum what) learned the ropes.or get a 4-stroke 250 ,or get a 2-stroke 250/150.I dont really want to spend to much an like the strokes.the 150s are ment to be as fast as the top 4 strokes and the rgv an the like are quick as hell.but how much more do 2 strokes cost to run aposed to 4 stroke.are the 150s ok?

Stick the 400 in the garage until you get insurance and a license. If you hit someone or damage another vehicle, you'll probably be paying off debt for a very very long time and as other members who found out the hardway, its nearly a grand in automatic fines on top.

150s are good, cheap as and fun. So are scooters.

IMHO. Couldn't go wrong with a near new gn250. With an RRP of $3000 or there abouts for a new one if you can find a good one for 2grandish I think I would do that in hindsight. However if you want to stick to the sportsbikes then I would suggest Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Dunno. 2 stroke vs 4 cylinder 250. They are all screamers and relatively high maintenance, I bought mine for 3300 and spent nearly 2 grand on it. Tis a good bike though I am sure it has had a hard time but all those little bikes have (I don't care what anyone says). Everyone rings the shit out of 1 and 250s!!!!!! Tis a fact.

Oh and I second what Two seven said about the whole insurance thing.

Get your licence, and stick ZZR250 decals on the 400

You can get full license pretty quickly by doing the CBTA courses... then you'll e leagal to ride the 400.

I say stick with the 400! Someone very close to me has a 400 and doesn't have his full. He's had no problems thus far! Just don't plan on getting caught and you'll be sweet! :D

If you're over 25, you apply to use a bike over 250cc for the CBTA courses.

It's something like $300 each time, so if you're of age, had a full class 1 for 2 years or longer, and have $600 dollars burning a hole in your pocket you could probably get your full in a month or so.

No point being silly about it, I'm sure you'll do enough illegal things on a 250 to not want to add salt to the wound by getting caught on a 400...plus the 2-stroke 250's are pretty quick too, may even beat the 400 anyway, but I agree that they would have had a hard life.

Plus there is the regular maintanence and $$$ to spend. Get a 250 4stroke, there are a few for sale at the moment (even mine soon) and re-sale once you get your full won't be a problem.

well i sort of made a decision.I am keeping the 400.i dnt think ill get the money i want for it.and i have been researching a little and found the zzr 600 engine to prettymuch bolt straight in .100 horses are better than 53..and it needs more power seeing that it weighs 200 kg .il give myself $800 credit for fines before i rethink going to a 250.also is the fine still only 400 if you get caught with no license -or is that only driving out of your license conditions and u incur a bigger one with no license at all?? .even tho i am planning to get mine as soon as my bike cums outa the shop.
