Brought the V-Strom back from Hamilton on Saturday, somewhat nervous until I got going. It's a nice ride and seems to be better for my back than the Katana with a more upright riding position, although a slight numbness in the butt reminiscent of the GN (more than you wanted to know) and so effortless to get up to speed I'm very happy with it, all I have to do now is handle the weight of a much heavier bike with a high seat, once or twice it gave me a bit of a fright when shifting it around while stationary, well, yes I know how that sounds but you know what I mean, with the Katana my feet are flat on the ground. Almost run out of petrol on the way home, the gas station in Tirau is shut so had to ride through to Putararu with the petrol warning light flashing madly.:baby:

Ok I'll give the camera a go but I'm still stuck in the jurassic on dial up. Oh yes, checked the tires today only 20psi in the front, faaaark, soon sorted that out. Took it round the lake, as you do, just for a pootle.
Oh yes, on the way down the Mamaku's on the way home from Hamilton the car in front was indicating right at the turnoff to Mamaku village, I slowed thinking to pass on the inside but for some reason I held back, just as well the fucker decided not to go that way, canceled his indicator and went straight ahead, I still can't see what made me hold back. Perhaps I have the ability to sniff out fuckwits, I sure hope so.

Congrats on the V-Strom. Yes they are pretty high and tough to manage at walking speed. Just keep your fingers away from that front brake and you will be fine.
Keep those cautious instincts going and good luck.

I have no idea if this has uploaded a photo or not. If not, my motorbike (not a toy) is a black one. Curse dial up...but it is cheap.
I know what you mean about the front brake, and I'll grow longer legs.

Another thing, my wife requests that I go round corners without leaning over so much !!! I assume, as it's a high bike, that the lean is accentuated, seems ok to me.
