Just had a look at the local dealer yesterday and WOW

dunno how she does compared to the 09 model, but as an engineer it's fucking beautiful and I wish i could have pulled the new clothes off her then and there to have a look at the induction side of things...

fuel injection on the front side and resonance chamber and tuned length pipe on the backside. Still our favourite 5 valve, 3 ring motor, but even more reliable, easier to tune and installed the other way around.

Yes, the intake is at the front of the bike. The exhaust at the rear. The engine is backwards. No more smashed header pipes or burnt legs/hands :D

the only thing she's missing is a radiator brace (like all bikes) but there's plenty of room to mount 'em so not a big problem.

Looks like I know what I'm riding when (if) my '98 YZ400f finally dies

apparently the 250 is a four valve but the 450 is five (or so the salesman would have me believe)

Exactly, his knowledge of the bike is not the best http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelspecs/209/0/specs.aspx if you want to confirm :)

Still, it looks one helluva bike & if they came out with a 350 it'd be an absolute weapon.

Salesman information FAIL

lol and to think that was one of my few good experiences with that shop

I must say I preferred the old look of the shrouds; the black plastic looks like it just makes it more expensive and the texture on it will no doubt be a pig to clean

Seems to go well with Whib's at the helm, you could argue any bike would, nonetheless to take a bike that's just been run in & win comfortably from a mid pack start is still impressive.

You'd think Kawasaki would want to keep a winning rider,i'm sure the same thing happened with Bubba.Hope Whibs wins on the Yamaha.....that would teach Kawasaki a lesson, just like Bubba has for Yamaha

why do you say that?

From everything I've read flipping the cylinder around & the changes that allowed has done good things for the handling, but a 450 is alot of bike & whilst I reckon I'll stick 250 for awhile, a YZF350 would be a great trail riding /adventure riding bike I reckon.

Wow. New colour again. Would like to have been a fly on the wall there, seems odd. Not to take anything from mighty Axeman but he gained number one plate on the Kawasaki team, obviously there can only be ONE plate but... what about all the Kawasaki money, support and effort behind the rider?

I think of all the factories...the big K seems to be doing it the toughest. They seem to be withdrawing left right and centre

yeah crasher, out of Moto GP too. Seems a bloody shame but can't help thinking something more to this one. Kawasaki not in GNCC at all next year?

BTW, Nicest bar stool I've ever seen.

Currently having both a 400 and a 250 in the shed I find the 250 is rarely used (and never by myself) - if i want to go easy i just ride the 400 easy ;)

sure the 250 is a smidgeon lighter, and by no means slower, but the 400 just has the pulling power to do anything anytime anygear.

riding several mate's newer 450s it just gets better (smoother, better handling, more refined, better power)

I just reckon a 350 would be a waste and doesn't fit any MX classes either

Cheers! One of my 'ex' flatmates told me it stunk. I told her she did...and not long after told her to find somewhere else to live!
