View Full Version : Auckland: Learner friendly ride (28th Nov)

I thinking of going for a wee ride on Saturday. I just wanted to gauge the interest of others. This will not be a traditional KB blast. I am proposing a sedate pace and the ride will be relatively learner friendly (although we will exceed 70 KM/H on motorway sections).

This will be a relaxing ride to enjoy the scenery. The basic route will be as follows:

Meet in Silverdale (or other spots along the way).
Follow SH1 until New Market.
Follow Great South Road as much as possible.
Turn off toward Raglan at Huntly.
Raglan in time for lunch.

It's a fairly long ride, especially at a slower pace. So I am proposing that we depart Silverdale at 0700 (happy to stop along the way and collect others).

Experienced riders are very welcome - especially if you are supporting newer riders - but again, we won't be racing down there.

Is there any interest for this on Saturday or is it too short notice. I probably won't bother unless there are at least a couple of others interested.

I'd like to come on this ride. I haven't done a long ride for a while so a nice cruisy ride to Raglan sounds like a good idea.

It's not a learner focussed ride per se, so others are more than welcome - I just wanted to get across that the riding style would be learner friendly (as often KB rides are not).

One or two more interested and we'll do it! Hopefully the weather holds. Right now it doesn't look brilliant.

Shit "might do more than 70 km on the motorways"? Mate if you don't get run over by a car doing 110 on the motorway, any sports bike that joins in might have their head gasket blow up due to the heat generated by pootling along at those soporific speeds... maybe you should call it a crusier ride so no unaware sports bikes turn up. Anyways have fun!
