I love the fact he has all that gear on (no gloves tho') - and had samoan work boots on.

Sounds like bullshot to me.

Pic taken from a lorry? A Lorry driver, using a camera/phone to take a picture of someone texting on a motorcycle ha ha ha... The picture looks to have been taken from a vantage point higher than the motorcyclist???? only thing i can think of is lorry...

Never mind the texting - notice the lack of gloves.
Why even bother with a helmet - not protecting much

Apparently wearing jandals, no gloves (better for texting I suppose), but what appears to be an expensive BMW jacket.

Priorities, eh?

Have you tried texting on a bike with your gloves on, fuck me it's tricky, especially if you're right handed

cant use cellphones in the car now, so that evidence was collected illegally.

Ixion
26th November 2009, 13:20
Not necessarily, it could have been taken by a digital camera, that's still legal. Or taken out of an office window.

modboy
26th November 2009, 13:33
Yep - I got pulled over last week in the car - dicking around with my iPhone, by a mufti cop - I had it plugged into my cassette deck playing tunes - I told the cop it was an iPod and he said, no sweat, he thought I was txting. Let me go without as much as a warning.

Which basically just goes to show the law is a complete ass.

If the speed limit wasn't 80km/h, then the rider wouldn't have become so bored.

It seems to me that they need to raise the speed limit if they want to avoid this sort of thing.

Maybe it was a guy on a rental BMW?

A tourist mate showed up at our place a while back wearing an Arai, a Hein Gericke jacket and board shorts. Not all his luggage showed up. I loaned him some overtrou and boots. Eventually the rest of the suitcases turned up when he was down south.

I thought the pic was a bit odd.

He's riding a BMW, wearing a BMW lid and a BMW jacket. While the bike isn't that expensive it's not a shitter and as gear goes the jacket and helmet pretty are up there in cost.

Given they've got all the matching BMW bike and gear you could also stereotype that they consider themselves a safe and steady rider/pipes and slippers type.

Why would someone who's shelled out all that money on BMW branded gear then ride with no gloves and in jandals. It doesn't add up to me.

Have also heard of dudes with big touring bikes cruising along eating hamburgers while riding.

Oh, that can certainly be done. Nothing illegal in that though. A man must eat, after all. Only rpoblem is if you have to make a sudden gear change it can get a bit messy and you risk losing the remains of your burger.

Dont belive the pic for a min. All the branded BMW gear & jandals!

A spoof pic posed for effect. Is it paranoia or a subtle visual from the pro levy brigade?

That piece of "Southern Motorway" looks like a very Clean piece of asphalt.
That grass verge on the "Southern Motorway" also well manicured.

Almost like you'd expect a 'closed circuit' to look!

Herald should be taken to task if they print hoax's.

Looks like a jack up to me.

Looks like a track to me. The surface is too smooth, nicely manicured grass and an armco barrier in the background. No centre line ???

grusomhat
27th November 2009, 08:45
It's definitely taken from inside another vehicle, you can see the reflection from the window on the right of the picture.

Doesn't rule out track though

Someone with betters eyes than me, have a look in his gas tank. See what the reflection is of.

EDIT: Screw all that, looking at the picture that has more in, that lane is way to wide. He's sitting right at the left of it and there's still no lane markings. I call track

javawocky
27th November 2009, 09:11
perhaps a motorway onramp? Now if only this were CSI we could zoom in on the rear view mirror and see a reflection of the Hamptondowns buildings - flag that, without gloves?

White trash
27th November 2009, 09:21
It's fairly easy to see the edge of the lane on the other side of the armco, no way is it a track.

It's illegal to make calls receive call/end calls and send/read txt messages. nothing about using it as a camera that im aware off :D

Still, i'm siding with the people that think this was staged.

I did see a bloke, astride his scooter talking loudly into his cell, with his helmet on while at the traffic lights.

Or there's the guy who rides his AZ50 into Welly wearing track pants and jandels

Remarkebly clear photo for something taken of a vehicle moving at 80ks, presumibly from another moving at a similar speed.... very little background movement too (though it does seem to be moving, but it could be stationary and the other moving just as easily).

With the compression on that photo there's no way to tell how "good" the camera is either.
