Front tyre noise?

Does anyone else have a noisy front tire?
mine moans like a ... well - you know..
it became noticeable after a new front tire was fitted.
i have checked wheel bearings and brakes - everything i can think of.
the mechanic that put the tire on said he could not hear a noise, i sure as hell can -it's loud as, i wonder if people can hear the exhaust or the moaning of the front tire as i go past.
pulling the clutch/killing engine, the sound keeps groaning away..
For now i'm just living with it and hoping that something nasty does not happen.

anyone had issues with particular tires?
any thoughts appreciated.

No mate that does sound odd?? Is the direction of rotation arrow the right way round? oversize tyre catching on something? brakes dragging, tyre pressure?.

Yep, is not uncommon. The tyres on ffwabbitt moan very loudly. Doesn't mean anything is just the acoustic effects of the tread.

it's perfect :)

so yeah, i might just live with it. it seems others are reporting similar occurrences.
although when the bike is outside (currently in the dark garage under my building in town where i work) i'll get the details off it and post them. perhaps there is a common theme to which tires are noisy.

What brand of tyre? Some do make more noise than others. Moaning is a interesting one!

if you vary you speed up and down can you get it to moan in different tones? Ahhhhhh mmmmmmmmm ahhhh mmmmm mmmmm aaaaaahhhhhhh

Ohhh, just road noise, I thought you meant like a rubbingy noise or somat, right as you were. Just a different tyre tread /road surface interface noise is common enough, especially noticeable in cars sometimes. Cool nothing wrong then, earplugs and a different tread pattern tyre next time then if it irritates. Sorry, I get very confused sometimes since I came off the meds. ;) :D

Sometimes its temporary in the beginning while the edges of the tyre are worn off.

Ive had this problem on my rg150 race bbike, I had to put a set of treaded tyres on instead of the slick front i normally run. as soon as i had finished scrubbing them in and started hanging off i could hear this strange "moaning" which gave me the shits as i was fully cranked over in this corner. Then i realised it was the tread and all was good.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I'm aware the centripetal forces from the wheel spinning can effectively push the blocks of rubber caused by the pattern of tread (or the edges of the tread) to be veeery slightly more "out" from the centre of the wheel (excuse the scientific language :blink: ) and then that raised edge slaps the ground, causing a noise.

The pitch should increase as speed goes up? .... Although this should only really happen at high speeds in the first place. :Punk:

It is really evident if you watch the V8's. They chuck on their wets and when the shot cuts to a road level camera you can hear a high pitched whine as the cars sedately fly around a corner at 170km/h....

need to know what tyre , VFR800s have vents in the guard so noise can transfer through . Some tyres are noisier then others , rough rule of thumb ,the more tread the noisier it is

SOme tyres make a bit of noise until you wear the NIPPLES off. You could trim them off with a knife to see if this makes a difference.

No nipples on my tyres, they get gobbled up quick smart!
