I got yakking with the owner of my local bike shop, today. To my surprise he asserts there is no formal association of NZ Bike dealers thus no forum from which any form of joint action can be devised and developed.

My guy is acutely aware of the potential damage the proposed levies will cause his business and, if follows, all other bike dealers.

And so, is there any of you PC Wizzes who can and will put together an email list of all bike dealers in NZ.

I'd like to contact them suggesting a plan. That plan would also involve all bikers who are serious about stopping the levies from rising, if not having them abolished altogether.

It seems to me that protesting is all well and good, but a professional lobbyist, hired by 'Us?' (bikers and related interested parties) to pound the halls of power would be a great asset.

Anyone able and willing to create the list?

Cheers

I don't have time to extract out all the info - but a bunch of people, splitting it up should do it pdq

I understand that one way of Motorcycle retailers contacting every bike shop in the country is through their wholesalers, maybe this should be set up through the Wholesalers and Importers of the motorcycle industry.

It does seem like they are a monkey on a string to the government re ACC levies. Too busy serving customers in spring?

One local shop said to me that NZ has a cartel of 4 major motorcycle importers, and negotiations in back rooms are underway?
