Some nice write up in there.. I must say, This is the Best write up i have seen him do for a while..
A similar thing happened to me 20 years ago when I was an impressionable young journalist. The editor of a paper I was working on was a car nut, but it was an unrequited affair that saw him with a long line of practical family Corollas, Accords and Falcons. He confided in me once that he had always wanted an MGB Roadster, and always regretted not having owned one. More recently, a truck driver friend recently had a stroke. His grand plan for the last 15 years had always been to retire and buy a Ducati 1098, but now it's doubtful he will ever be recovered enough to ride one.
The two valve Ducati Monster rounds out my bucket list. It's easy to ride, quick to turn in and stops well. And through the twisties it's huge fun.
And if you haven't checked out Monsters for a while, check out the latest. This is the new 1100S Monster with Ohlins all round. Still not as classy as a Guzzi, but having ridden one I can tell you the grin factor is huge.
