I have bought a .22 (rifle) from Chch but the guy selling it goes to aussie for a couple of weeks on tuesday. NZ Couriers want to charge $150 to send it up here, which virtually makes it equal to the price the thing was new. I was wondering if there is anyone driving or flying up this weekend or on monday or tuesday who would be willing to bring it up for me...beers on offer. I would also be willing to drive down to say hamilton or tauranga etc. to meet and pick up if that is as far as someone is coming.

Help a brother out!

Cheers in advance.

Oh yeah, another option would be for someone who is willing to do it, to take delivery of it and hold it for me if they were willing...I will actaully be down there end of next week or early the week after, so could pick it up then...

The pc brigade will jump on ya,you need a firearms license to even have the bloody rifle in your possession.

I sent mine to Auckland via Fastway, asked them if it was ok,and was told yes as long as it's wrapped well, went to hunting shop and got an old rifle box and all good, other courier companies said no,but as long as it's not obvious they needn't know the contents of package.

Yeah checked up on this today. the reason couriers get away with it is something to do with their general licence to carry dangerous goods covering it or something. But general Joe Public would need a FAL to transport it.
