Yes - this is how far peaceful, polite and reasoned will get us.
Like I keep saying - fuck public perceptions it's about time for militant action

Sigh, we're low on cash, so lets just increase everyone's taxes, cos that'll solve the problem. Some how it seems to me that Government officials look for an easy way out instead of looking for long term solutions?

This is all such a pointless excercise. Any New Zealand Government will not have the skills or experience to make such critical decsions.
And as for us bikers, "add 2.5% onto GST", like 99% of us actually understand the national implications of such a change.
Perhaps a little honesty is required.
How about : "We, the New Zealand government, are totally incapable of addressing this serious issue and we therefore intend employing a professional firm of management consultants to study the Western World of heathcare and road usage with view to devising the ideal solution for the country"
All this reinventing the wheel stuff is going nowhere.

Seems to me like the Sunday Star Times has a real beef with us and has taken a very pro Nat editorial line on this topic.
How about one of those petition things, something along the lines of;
'If the Sunday Star Times continues to publish one sided articles in favor of ACC rises, will you boycott the newspaper?".
Send the results in to the editor....

I think the Media is still in Honey Moon mode with the Nats, but the Public is Over them.

Did I read right (in the smallish print that the attachment was in) that ACC was called "the state insurer"? Hmmm, no ambiguity now regarding the compensation corporation vs. insurance scheme now is there.

You read it correctly. It does indeed say "the state insurer" As you say, no ambiguity at all in the government / ACC stance.

Is this what BIKEOI asked, because i read it (first time around) as Motorcyclist/Angry bikers saying that levies would have to go up...?
"The only hope motorcyclists have left is if the cabinet decides to impose a more moderate increase. Smith hinted as much when angry bikers rallied on the steps of parliament, saying levies would have to go up but not as much as had been flagged.
Good luck today Nasty et al

Well then. ACC have just set their battle lines. What are we going to do about it???

No surprise. ACC were never going to change their attitude.
But they don't make the call, Nick Smith does.
That's why we're targeting him , not ACC.
Alos, the underlying dynamic is that there is a battle going on between John Judge and Nick Smith. Judge wanting to take a hard line "privatise and be damned" , Smith (and probably Key) with an eye on the electoral effects of such an approach.
Makes it all the more important we roll bikes into Nat party events , like tomorrow night.

Just on the boycott theme, money being the only thing that matters to these bastards...I wonder how many bikers bought/sold a house via a certain estate agency in the Bay?

The lies ! I still can't believe the blatant & misleading scaremongering from the government on this. What else ?
Oh well I'll just have to be a good lil average nz'r & bitch & complain at 3am on radiolive talkback (cos that'll work).

thats a fucking good idea. I only use my van for supermarket/shopping and MX excursions, so unlikely to get ticketed in any parks there
EDIT: and wtf is with the lies, they have been clearly and simply disproven by us, yet they still trot them out at any excuse, makes me rage
EDIT2: will probly only need to have vehicles on hold for 18 months ish, as if national get elected again I reckon thier first task would be fully privatising ACC, and if labour ACC should go back the way it was (hopefully). In saying that we still gotta do all we can to stop this crap!

Has ACC subtly changed it's position regarding the "16 times more likely" line that it's been using? I'm sure they were saying "more likely to have an accident" whereas the article uses the phrase "more likely to make a claim".
I wonder if ACC is having to clean up it's use of statistics under pressure from the campaign? More importantly, is it correct?

no, most definetly incorrect, mot figures show bikers are about 4x more likely to have an accident per vehicle registration, the 16 times comes from a survey 10 years ago and the 16 times is per distance travelled, and bikers on average do less k's than car drivers, which is taken into account in the mot data.
The 16x more likely to crash could be debated to be true as they have just neglected to state it is per km, but the 16x more likely to make a claim is a blatant lie (just add it to the pile of bs they are already spewing out)

The other, less well publicized argument is x4 times/8 times/16 times, more likely than who? Nth times more likely than a 15 year old in daddies BMW? Nth times more likely than the grandad doing 60 on the motorway without his glasses? Nth times more likely than mum taking her kids to school? Nth times more likely than the kid driving the 10 yer old hatch with the big unpainted spoiler and tin can exhaust? Nth times more likely than the P'd up long distance truck driver or the knackered sales rep?
Nth times more...well...you get the picture.
And the other point is that it's predictive, more likely. Not certain to or has had....
Statistical results and the interpretation thereof, depend on the questions asked and the data input. In this case both the question asked by ACC and the data relied upon to answer the question are flawed.

It still irks me how the general public don't care or are unaware how privatising ACC will screw them as well. All I hear is bloody bikers whinging they say.
