The ACC has wound back recommended levy increases for motorcyclists, but riders of big bikes will still face a rise of more than 50 per cent next year.
The state insurer will today release to ministers its final recommendation, which will see the levies on employers, workers and motor vehicles all rise.

Nice move - I wonder if commentary will be made along the lines of "well we have to raise this levy that levy etc because the moey has to come from somewhere so you'll just have to keep subsidising motorcycles"

... preparing the ground for next review where they probably get set at the originally intended levels.

I was thinking.

Don't pay Rego. Donate the Rego to a BRONZ nominated charity. Refuse donations from Ulysses members.

"The average rate for cars (including the levy on petrol) will surge from $287 to $352.19 a year."
"The cost for motorbikes bigger than 600cc would rise from $430.54 to $739.32, but that is down on the $781.12 originally suggested by the ACC. It would fall to $659.26 once the law change was in place" (Judge must have been drink Tuis if he thinks we are going ta believe that Bull Shit<_<).
Not much of a change at all:argh: Fu*k'em.

Would it be overly subversive if I ... say... registered my 2003 Charcoal coloured VTR1000 and scanned the reg tag... such that others could print it - purely for the purposes of them to admire the incredible resolution of my scanner of course...

RiderInBlack

What's more I wíll refuse to pay any fines related to not paying the rego. I would consider just paying the same as the cars or the rego cost before the hike, but I refuse to paying anything above that.

"Earners face a rise from $1.70 now to $2.80 per $100 of income next year, although that will drop to $2.70 once the new ACC law is passed."

So for a salary of $50,000, you're going to be paying $1400 instead of $850... add fuel levy, add rego levy... Fuck it, I may never come back to NZ!

yea on that note i will have no money left when this happens i mean 3 dollars for every hundred plus an increase on fule and woo 730 on rego i can use the 50 bucks that i wont have to pay to pay for the fule tax increase for a couple of months what a waste of effort

now what do we do as a motorcycle community?

speculation: it could be that the bikes smaller than 600cc were getting a increase to 430 and they will now be paying the same as the rest of us

Fucking wankers.

After 10 years, ACC would be fully funded, including for its pre-1999 liabilities, and levies would need to cover only the current year costs of accidents
Of course, because levies and taxes are always removed once they have funded their intended purpose. Yeah right.

And where the hell are they getting their numbers from?.

The cost for motorbikes bigger than 600cc would rise from $430.54 to $739.32
According to the LTSA website the cost for any bike over 61cc is $321.24, so where does $430.54 fit in to the picture?

Can someone explain.

And I get to pay more from my wages for people that do dumb things at home and hurt themselves, and those that choose to injure themselves playing rugby as well as directly funding my choice of recreational activity. That seems fair.

how do they actually come up with the figures? looks like they've taken a token $50-odd off.

Someone has a calculator up their ass me thinks

mashman

I'll say it again. They're getting their figures from reports, reports that at every turn, look wrong. I've seen some stunning things in my years where reports are concerned. One particular one: I was enhancing a reporting system for a company and found that the person that had been there before me had the currency conversion calculation the wrong way around... within a year the company went bust. That is not an isolated instance. I recently found out that some of our internal reporting was wrong, well, not wrong, just incomplete and wrong... it's now fixed and we're actually in a better position... get your figures wrong and your FUCKED! I have a sneaky feeling..............

I dont understand their comment. "rise from $430", when was it ever $430?

Petrol levies.

ACC keep mixing up whether or not they include petrol levies when they discuss what it will costs riders.

Sometimes they only talk about the ACC component of annual license.

Sometimes they add an [ average km ] x [ average consumption ] x [ ACC petrol ] levy to the mix.

(When they calculate the fees, based on how much they think they need, they do take into account how much petrol will be used. Of course, since some bikes use less petrol than cars, that helps to make our license ACC component higher than cars!)

ACC have a REAL problem communicating.

I would like to see that a-hole John Judge hanging from the gallows outside parliament...
STILL saying the same CRAP to the media about how motorcyclists are being subsidised!

I'm so livid I'm almost bashing the keyboard through the desk.

At one stage I was worried about my insurance being void if my bikes weren't registered but have read ALL the fine print now and they are still covered so ACC can stick it where the sun doesn't shine cos they are gonna be losing 3 lots of rego from me.

I would rather pay a fine to the justice dept than hand over a single cent to ACC. All the cops I have spoken to recently have been really sympathetic and in fact I rode down to Welly for the ACC protest in the company of a cop who happens to be a biker when not in uniform!
