My Burt Monroe started thurs, with a trackday run by HRC with Aaron Slight and Hayden Fitzgerald.... Woke up to a godsforsaken windy squally day :cold:
(am I the only sick person the think of attending in this miserable weather?) Thankfully I wasn't  they run 2 classes, 1 for experienced rd bikes and one for race bikes. It was fantastic!!! Since there was only about 7 of us race bikes we split in to 2 groups for our session one lot following Aaron and the other following Hayden. It was excellent, I have to say a big thanks to Hayden, later on on the day he gave me a bit of his time and followed me around the track to give me a few pointers.
Friday : Woke up to stunning day :woohoo: My friend and I loaded our bikes up (since I don't have a trailor, I have to rely on the generosity of my friends at this stage) and cut a track out to teretonga, had a quick riders briefing then out onto the track. Managed to get 2 practice sessions in before the damn weather turned to custard "again". Feeling pretty happy with how bike was going, but my nerves were starting to set in for sat, as i have only participated in 1 club race before last month and had 1 start off the grid!
Sat : Yay the weather gods smiled on us, and we had a pretty damn fine day to look forward to! Managed to get my ass out of bed at 6.30 and out at track by 7.30. My class (pre89) was last up. For qualifing they run Pre89 and 82 together for a ten minute session. Hmm that was and experience....first time out with sooo many bikes on the track, but did actually manage to pass a couple, to my delight. And I managed to knock 6 seconds off my lap time from when i was last out! So I was stoked with producing a 1.21 straight off the bat! (haydens coaching must have paid off)
Races : Pretty uneventfull, I need to work on getting off the line a bit faster. I was pretty much on my own after about 2 laps since the next person ahead of me was about 4 secs a lap faster, But I stayed upright, worked on my lines and carring my cornerspeed. I managed to do consistant 1.21's all day, so I am pretty happy with my effort in my first big race. Now to work on reeling in a few people and upping my speed a bit. BRING on SMCC summer series, only 2 weeks away :woohoo:
My thanks to everyone who has encouraged me to have a crack at racing (much to my daughters disgust) they have created a monster!
It was awesome seeing soo many people travel from all over NZ to participate, we had a fantastic turn out, with out these competitors this awesome event wouln happen! Cant wait for next yr, give me a yr of club racing and I'll attack wyndham next yr!

Nice one, kit. Thanks for the write up and the chance to see you racing. Excellent weekend, wasn't it? I guess you Southland types are used to that wind, eh? I had to keep putting antifreeze (coffee) in my system so I didn't seize up!

X 2 on the antifreeze! was quite cool at times. It certainly was a great weekend, and myrphys law, since monday we have had bloody brilliant weather (damn typical!) Don't know about getting used to the wind, I'm pretty bloody over it at the moment. Nov is ususally pretty windy but this yr have been diabolical. Hope you are going to brave the elements next yr and come down again.

Asked him whot his owes him and he said 24000 dollars and i choked on mine:eek:

Funniest thing was he started out saying the thing was stock:eek5::gob:then he told me whot he'd done to it and that cost bigtime:yes:.
Dont think i will be down on 13th cos my third cousin is arriving to stay for a bit of farm work experince on saturday and his parents are staying the night heading home sunday so you will have to chase somone else:yes:.
Its a bugger realy cos i just put bigger main jetts in it to see if i can get a bit more top end and would like to try it out.

Oh NO, give me a chance to catch ya before you fly off into the distance ;)
Hmm going to have to think tactics! Do you run a mix of avgas? I know a lot of people do out there.

:argh:Flying of into the distance HMMMMM thats not gona happen but i think your gona catch me soon enough and make us all :sweatdrop and:crybaby:.
As for avgas mix:gob:do you think im gona give my competition my secrets:bash:.
No seriously though i havent tried avgas on the track as i checked it out and the thery seems to be high revving 4strokes dont get any performance gains unless compression is raised an icnition is advanced.
I have tried it in my bike at home and ran ok but got the shits up about burning the valves out cos it burns alot slower.
Have a look in threads iv'e started and theres a thread about it in there under fuel and exaust.
If you decide to try it go for a blend of 91 and avgas and let me know if it works:yes:.
The guyes on the 2 strokes use it but thats a different type of motor.
Have fun and remember shiny side up works best:woohoo:

Yea I've heard about the burning out valve thing too, so im not too keen to try it out either. Rather have a running bike then a broken one in the garage and having to watch from the sidelines untill i got it fixed!

Hey kit how you get on last weekend?
Well.....I had my bike all loaded up on trailor beside my mates bike (thank god i have friends otherwise I'd be riding it out to the track) on sat..... and then late sat night had a bit of a teenage drama with one of my daughters friends and ended up with an upset young girl at home to look after....Soo come sunday morning my friend came to pick bikes up, and i had to unload mine off:crybaby: But i did get out for a look! Was not a bad day out there, wee bit windy but quite warm. There was not a bad turn out.
soo no more racing till feb, unless ya gonna run in the clubmans class at the nats. I'm just going to help out prob on the flags at that meet. But they are running a Brian Bernard training day early feb, not sure on date yet.
