Wellington - Slip closes SH2 (1 December)

A large slip in the Hutt Valley has blocked State Highway two.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area which is next to the Te Marua Lakes.

Both lanes on the highway have been closed as the danger of further slips is considered imminent.

Rain is falling heavily in the Wellington region and is set to continue through until Wednesday morning with a weather watch in place.
