We are still in the media. 6PM News lead story
Interesting hypothetical motorcycle accident victim case study the ACC spokesperson responded with.

The same scenario would fit a rugby player who pays no directly targetted levy.

Comments on their website everyone please . Lets put them straight.

In the scenario quoted I wonder how often this actually happens (in the real world). There must be a hell of a lot of other 'hobbies' that have similar accidents with long term consequences, not just motorcycling.

motorcycles 0 - 125cc are going to be cheaper though?? that makes sense! you're much less likely to be injured running around town cause you're protected by your suit, board shorts or tshirt and all the cars protect you from crashing i guess:rolleyes:

Now just hang on a minute....
The middle-aged biker earning $80,000pa (coughfuckencough) breaks his back. So his earnings compo is going to be sizeable. If subsidising others is so abhorrent, why are they wanting to fleece poor me to pay for that rich biker?
Why o why can't the media see this?

middle aged, bout 40 years income compensation left @ .8*80k = 64k pa, thats 2.5mil right there, another 1.5mil from treatment, almost double the injury cost is spent on income protection, so theres a huge income bias in thier figures (surprised much!)

Also, pretty sure you can have a back injury doing things other than motorcycling, bloody acc biased figures <img src="http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=152770&stc=1&d=1259399017" />

and as for the all over in three weeks with unhappy motorcyclists, my ass itll be all over. Perhaps we should be organising a possible next day/weekend rowdy protest if things dont go fairly (which is highly likely).

Well that`s just phucken great!
Bloody national party bullshit...
I never voted for these fools and I never will.
The nice peaceful protests have failed...time to step it up a notch or two.
I`m moving over to that dissruptive protest thread, if I can find it...

Oh yeah, that 15% GST shite is gonna add to everything as well.

If the biker is 40 yrs old the income protection would only last till he was 65 yrs
or retirement age if he doesnt die before hand, this would change the figures
64k times 25yrs = 1.6mill
