Noper.

I've never owned a Suzuki.
I've had many Hondas though, and the only things I've had to fix were one (1) footpeg bolt, and two (1.873) R/R/R/R s.
Oh - and I had to treat them weekly (or was it weakly?) with some special anti-gheyness wax.

I have noticed with my Honda that I need to fill up the petrol tank every now and then. Most annoying, but according to my dealer and Honda NZ this is NOT a warranty issue.

Mrs H has had her share of Suzuki-related issues. Most have been electrical, particularly the sidestand switches. On her Marauders, the entire electrical system seems to centre on the sidestand switch. After having had her second switch fail on her Bandit, it's now disabled.

The Bandit's throttle mechanism appears to be only good for about 30,000 odd km. It looks like she's about due for a second one.

Mechanically her Bandit is just fine. It's done about 66,000km now (Mrs H will have had it about three years in June) and thanks to a Scottoiler still on its original chain and sprockets.

That said, a Bandit 1250, or a Strom Thou still figure in my "Highly Rated" list. I am also most interested in the rumoured GSR750.

The SV650 pro twin has certainly taken a bit of abuse. It's been written off by an unknown and raped by a Mair who thinks rev limiters are an indicator to upshift.

Having said that, it used to run out of puff at 10,500, now it runs to 11,200 happy as Larry. Some say they do that before they blow, but hey, we'll see I guess.

I got 2 zukis, one is super reliable, other one has a lot of minor nagging problems. It reflects on how they were treated by the previous owners...

My mate just picked up his new KLX from Ashburton 'cos the Ch Ch guys were asleep....as they have always seemed to be . Broke it - moved on. Mind due it was an RG150 and there was nothing left of the internals.
But it did do 24,000 before doing that so the average was good. At a total cost to me (minus rego/petrol/oil) around the $3K mark @ 24,000k's thats bloody cheap.

Well it is nice to hear that you enjoyed the experience.

Back on topic:
I am rapped with the reliability so far of my Suzuki - I have only had to do routine maintenance like petrol, oil, filters, tyres. Well there was an exhaust gasket that cost $40 that I had to replace - but apart from that everything has been good.

I would happy to buy almost any Suzuki that I liked the look of - from SVs to Hayabusas - I think they are great bikes and good value.

Mind you I would'nt mind giving a Honda a go futher down the track, better build quality...supposedly?

I like reliability, so I own a Ducati.

S'funny you should say this. Every bastard and his dog told me before I bought my first Ducati, that they break down all the time. Neither of the two ducati's I've owned have ever let me down in any serious way. Only problem I ever had was a regulator dying on the 900 and that was easily fixed.

No problems with the new Suzuki at all, Had it two years
I would say Suzukis's are as reliable as any other Japanese bike, and that means pretty bloody good.
I have owned them all and the biggest problem with motorbikes, is fixing the f--k ups that other back yard mechanics have previously stuffed up or things they have failed to service.
They all come out the factories good these days, but it is the ignorant or slack (tight ass) owners that cause most of the problems.
Don't blame the bike!

No compliants about the dealer. New SV1000 dropped the clutch under warranty and they loaned me a bike for 3 weeks until parts arrived from Japan. The rectifier on the Hayabusa failed - fixed under warranty. Shit can happen but the dealer is excellent.

yea bro i got some at home in my tool box. just check to see if you have to have a certain clearance which real gaskets achive. but if theres no prob go for gold is what i say, i love the shit. only use the red stuff tho as works better on hot places. put on a bead not too thick tho as when you tighten it up it will squese inside the engine if too much is aplyed. tighten losly leave for like 20 30mins to let it settle and go rubbery then evenly tighten everything up!:done:
