The Photography social group (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/group.php?groupid=95) set an assignment for its members to take photos of the elements (anything relating to earth, fire, sky, wind, or water, etc).

We want your help to decide which photo is the coolest. The member with the coolest shot doesn’t just get crowned “Awesome” and have bragging rights, but he or she also gets to pick the topic for next month’s assignment.

Cast your vote... NOW!

Photograph 1 and 2 looks like they are from postcards. Very nice.
If I were the photographer for the #9, I'd print it out and hang it up on a wall. Very cool.

My vote went to Number 9.

my eye syas that 2 and 8 are stunning, but 2 has that something extra, almost like the pic is living

Was out of Pic #2 or Pic #9 for me.

My vote went to Pic #9 in the end. It would look awesome printed on canvas, mounted on my wall! I would sit and stare at it longingly in the hope that I would be transported there *sigh*

They're all beautiful, but my senses love the 'fresh cool and clean' feeling of number 2 the most, the water seems to have movement, 8 is up there too. chose #2! Fantastic shots.:Punk:

Shot #8 deserves the win, no doubt.

Although 10 and 11 have fantastic skies.

I can't choose between 4,8 and 10. The others are ordinary IMO.
So on the random factor my vote goes with 8.

I saw your other comment in the social group saying it was hard to vote for number six but I didn't twig... :( Someone should have told me!

It was difficult to choose between 2 and 9, but in the end I chose 9.

All good shots, so we have to look for that something extra.

Number 7, the only one with no votes (2 was a close call also) but number 7 has a real sense of power.

Good pictures ... I think number 8 ... good composition, use of leading lines, and the golden triangle which I found lovely.

Nice photos. I can see the appeal of number 2... but it is tricky, it's so clean it might as well have been computer generated.

They are all great photos. However, I haven't, before, seen anyone capture a living flame as clearly as has been done in number 8 and it get's my vote.

Definitely #8 for me. To me personally, photography is supposed to be art - not merely a craft. While all the others are perfectly fine technically, imo they're merely craft. Besides all looking like they're done on assignment for the tourism industry.

Pic 2: Have managed to use a slow enough shutter speed to capture the water, but also picked a still enough evening not to get blurred bushes!. Balance between light and dark also well captured.

#2 did it for me. #7, Huka Falls brings back memories. Use to climb under the falls when I was a kid living in Taupo. Use to be a rope you climbed down to the waters edge on the far side in the photo. Crawl along the bank and just under the side of the fall was a little cave. Big enough for two to sit in with the water racing above you. Awesome. Wonder if you can still get down to it??

I worked on drilling rigs up that way in the mid sixties before the falls were ruined with all the commercialism. I once contemplated going over the falls. Not the right thing to do so I didn't. Was awfully tempted, it was running much lower than the last time I was there about two or three years back and it's the only place I can recall where ya got pay for the loo. And some say that charging for beach access won't happen. Is it me or did I just see a flying pig??:bash:

Bogar has clearly won this month's photography assignment (by a small landslide!) so he got to pick the next topic. Check out the social group here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=1184) for details.

Thanks again people.
Photo 2 was just a long exposure of the waterfalls walking up the track to the Wairere falls, no photo shop done. I have a pentax Digital SLR, which I take all my photos with.
Photo eight was simply a very fast shot of a fire I had burning one night and was amazed myself at the result. (ohh and plenty of red wine helps).
Any one wanting a copy of the image at full size just give me a yell.
