Is there really life on mars? Apparently we are not alone...
The Auckland Uni bike club seeks fellow university clubs for long walks on the beach, romantic dinners, and drunken toga parties. Rumour has it such a group exists in Chch, could be love at first sight!
Also seeking old members from past Uni Bike Clubs, share ya stories ya oldies.

Nah UC doesn't have a dedicated motorcycle or scooter club.
We have Motosoc, the general motorsports club, which among things such as drum and bass, paddock driving, 4x4, and car track and dyno days also covers road and dirtbikes.
Usually a fairly good turnout for the road rides we do go on, but they're infrequent and organised through student email. We also had a dyno day in conjunction with the cars. And we've done a few group track visits.
The road bike pres is CBR250Tom if you actually wanna chat about it.

UC used to have a bike club, was a member in the 90's. Remember one ride out Akaroa way, I was on the GSXR750 and was whupped on the twisties by much smaller bikes. To be fair I had never been on the road (oh, and ride like a nana) but was still a good lesson...

We should open a Motosoc thread on here, as far as I can tell there isn't one yet. I'm not actually a part of Motosoc, but I've met a couple of the guys from Wednesday Night Rides here in Chch. When's the next track day?

Motosoc used to be good, did quite a bit of work for them (on the commitee) and had a few good rides. Went to the dogs when they decided to incorporate cages IMHO. That's when I left anyway.

I heard that most of them were all so startlingly attractive that they ascended to a higher realm. There were apparently a few left behind, but they are of course the ugly ones:drinknsin

There being no success in locating motorcycle clubs in other universities, I suggest extending the search to looking for motorcycle clubs in other universes. I'll keep my eyes open.

as yet, nobody at Otago, I thought about starting one up last year. there's enough around to start one up though. If you feel inclined to look into starting one down here, i could put you in touch with some others that may be interested

Yeah, and most of them are too stuck up to talk to a chick that rides. Only had a proper convo with one biker at uni, the rest don't want to know.

I'm not inclined to put effort into organising anything. But I am a little surprised that none already exists. Does the weather/short days/icy roads get too shitty down here for decent riding in winter? I've assumed people who tell me that to be soft and wrong but do you that it might have some influence on the lack of people who want to going riding far during the University year?

Pffft! You've never come and spoken to me! lol.
I've tried to speak with a couple of people but they seem un-interested. What's up with the ride days being on friday from 1100-1500?! Everyone I know has classes at least in the morning or afternoon......
Ohh, I finally got a freakin locker. I was persistant and nagged to sort out some sort of waiting list. She would'nt have a bar of it, I was'nt going away, then all of a sudden, "ohh, I think there might be one, but we need to check them". Next day I had a choice of two. I'm of the opinion that they were always available and she just could'nt be bothered checking.....
Oh well I have a locker now!
Oh, and as for the chick that rides thing.....I think that's cool.

You sure these are bikers? There are other clubs where men in leather congregate and ignore women you know.

Is yours the yellow gixxer?
And ok so maybe it's not because I'm a chick, it might just be that they are snobs to everyone. I've had a 250 rider ask me if I wanted to swap bikes, and I talk regularly to the guy that owns the blue ER6n, but that's it.
It is a fail time for a ride though, I've got tutorials then so wouldn't be able to make them either.
Oh good, it's a lot easier having a locker!

There are only 2 students at Lincoln that ride bikes. Plenty with Hilux utes and farm quadbikes, but not road bikes.

Actually, no. Mostly barefeet and jandals, but it's still quite warm and this is my first year here (Masters) so that may be the winter uniform. You can buy moleskin pants and swannie lookalikes in the university bookshop. Not a lot of books, but lots of farm clothing. And most of the women look like they're styling themselves after an Aberdeen Angus or a Hereford - I guess they realise that their competition for men is out in the paddocks, so if you can't beat them, join them.
God I miss UC..... My supervisor is trying to talk me into a PhD, but I'm a dirty old man and a university without thousands of pretty girls is not worth studying at.
