Where in NZ can you get aftermarket mufflers for 749/999's? Termignonis are as rare as rocking horse poo (damn expensive too!!) and the twin silencer type outlets on these models just don't look right to me!

Where in NZ??....... best place and only place as far as I know is your local Ducati dealer who will be able to deal and get Termignonis. Otherwise oversea's and the dollar is damn good to buy... still not cheap, but cheaper than they ever will be!?

Hmm, 24k is bit steep for an exhaust even with a bike attachment!

GPR is an option. Available from EMoto (http://www.greenisland.co.nz/gpr.htm)
Have a set of GPRs on my ST4, seem pretty good to me. After two years still look and sound the part.

Hi Geemsee,
The twin Remus pipes is an option - what an awesome sound they make...
Glen Williams set my 999 up with these - check out www.glenwilliams.co.nz for contact details. Give him a call or email and find out where he got the cans from. It is a great set-up - very light too.
If you are in for a DIY option, you will probably have to buy overseas...

Ok thanks, i'll look into the Remus and GPR options, still would prefer a single silencer twin outlet like the Termi but they're much harder to come by. I've seen a Marving one but it looks a bit strange, the FF by Fresco looks good BUT you can't get them here i've been told and the ZARD/Leo Vince full systems (they won't just do a muffler) are crazy money!!

Just give it time, took me a year till a Termi muffler came up on T.me and got it for $600, bargin i thought.
Tried gutting the OEM by Custom Chambers but not worth the money. He did warn me there was not much difference in sound/performance but no fault of his, am happy with what he did.
US$ / AUS$ is good, maybe try to find 2nd hand Termi off ebay?

Continuing the 'exciting topic' above i've just ordered one of these from the UK:
http://www.ptrcorse.co.uk/prods5.html
no idea if it sounds any good or what the quality is like but the price seemed pretty fair and it certainly looks the part.... in my opinion (just like the Leo Vince one?!). So, anyway when it shows up i'll post an update!

I thought so..... although one thing I didn't realise is unless the UK firm signs up for the HMRC (Customs) 'voluntary' system to reclaim VAT (or GST in NZ!) you can't claim it back even though its leaving the contry and just to spread icing on the turd, NZ Customs will charge GST on top of the full price! Seems like a rip off to me?!

Check out on the customs thing because there is a lower threshold. If the invoice is less than a certain amount you dont have to pay GST. I have imported heaps of gear/parts from HK and never had to pay GST... DJ

I can't remember the point at which incoming goods attract GST but I seem to recall it was $700 or thereabout...
On a somewhat related matter, there are apparently fake Termignoni products appearing in the UK. When one person posted a question as to how you could tell the difference, he received the reply that the fakes have better welds...
Termignoni products for Ducati are sold as Ducati parts through Ducati dealers. For all other brands they are sold through an "Australasian agent" in Sydney who, experience suggests, specialises in *not* selling Termignoni.

From what I've read Termi's for the 749/999's are made of such thin metal that they have a bit of a tendency to crack.... a lot!
http://www.ducatisti.co.uk/forum/ducati-749/36599-oh-dear-new-termi-cracked.html
No idea if these are fakes or genuine though?!
It also has to do with the fact that the numberplate holder and light array is attached to them!
So anyway, hopefully as this one i've bought isn't claiming to be a Termi it won't fall to bits!?

Just in case anyone is still wondering, the exhaust never showed up BUT the guy has assured me he's gonna send another one. So assuming there aren't any erupting volcanoes or Somalian pirates this time I expect to receive my shiny exhaust some time next spring!!! C'est la vie I guess!?!

As it turns out, I never received this, despite them saying they'd sent it AND a replacement because it got 'lost' in the post :tugger: . I gave up on my money after ten months of broken promises and BS stories about illness and marriage break ups (WTF!!) from the twa... ahem, dealer, do I care about his personal problems?! er no just want my goods thanks!!!
So anyway to cut a long and f##king frustrating story short, the upshot was I orderered one of these:
http://www.powersport.co.nz/item_gg-slipon-ducati-999-749_5960
from Powersport in Hamilton (who knew eh?), it duly came and was fairly easy to fit once I'd figured out the Italian instructions. I actually think it looks the absolute dogs danglers and as for the noise, sounds reminiscent of an Avro Lancaster on full throttle :devil2: .........in actual fact its a bit too loud without the dB killers, I must be getting old!! The exhaust was delayed for a few days and fair play to Simon he sent me some extra goodies to say thanks, so cheers mate, would be happy to recommend!!
Here is the actual bike looking hot in the sun

Although it looks like two pipes this is a single unit and shaves a whopping 5kg off the unsprung weight, just need to save up now for the cat removal pipe and then get some K&N's and hmm maybe that Power Commander?...................................

open up your options and look outside of NZ, loads of good second hand stuff on fleabay and possibly a lot cheaper to get it posted over than buying in NZ
have bought and sold stuff via fleabay internationally over the years and saved / made a bundle
