Yep, the blues roots of Fleetwood Mac, that I was a fan of (think Albatross, Man of the World and my alltime favorite: Oh Well) can be seen in NZ in March/April 2010.
The concerts are in Auckland, Wellington and Napier. But there needs to be tickets sold in advance for them to come here. The Napier concert is at The Cabana on 8 April (middle of week) and there needs to be a minimum of 200 tickets sold early for it to happen.
Napier tickets are $60 and inquiries can be sent to cabanahotel@xtra.co.nz.
I will not miss this!

And how you can expect it to sound like now:
OK, so they disabled it. But just click on the yellow "You Tube Video" text and you are sweet.

He's not coming down here.....................pity.
There are those that will be able to say they saw Peter Green and those that did not.
Green been ill a lot of his life and as such has not had the accolades from the public as has King, Clapton, Vaughn just to mention those bluesmen that come to mind.
He's a must see if you can.

Interesting that he gave his Les Paul to Gary Moore in the early days of Moore's career. It was the same one used on Parisian Walkways.
You a blues guitarist y'self then Skyrider? Quite keen myself:

Cool thread!
I enjoyed those Vid's also - what a talent.
I had the dubious honour of bumping in to Peter Green in the White Horse Pub in Norbiton-upon-Thames in '94.
To be honest I didn't know of him at that time, but a mate I was with is a Music fanatic and filled me in. It was in the afternoon, so the pub was empty except for Peter and us few. At that time he looked like a real dero, and Jerry, the Landlord told us who he was - that he was suffering the long term effects of drug use over the years - and that altho many pubs didn't want him as a Customer (a bad "look") he was harmless - how ironic, if only the punters knew who he was - tho he prob preferred the anominity.
We were also told that Mick Jagger who lived close, in Richmond, - was very good to him and visited him regularly.
Its good to see he's out there doing it again.

Well Peter Greens orignal fleetwood mac is a very different beast to the later pop clture one.... The back story is fantastic, the latent talent is just amazing and you will never get a chance to see him again. Peter green is a bit of a cult figure these days but honestly, do a bit of research and then come listen to the man that gave us 'Black magic Woman", Albatross and so much more.
Don't expect too much, hes had a hard time of it - check the back story - he is old and frail but this is about more than that, its homage to a man that changed music just a little, was touched by the finger of god and was consumedin the process.
Peter green is a living legend.

I was in Borders the other day and they were playing Fleetwood Macs greatest hits. There was one rather awesome blues song with an epic guitar solo but the rest of the songs were complete utter bullshit. Their music is fucken crap.

They did't: Real Name: Stephanie Lynn Nicks
I was offered free ticket and stay in NP for the current Fleetwood Mac concert, but not my cuppa. Same reason as you, too poppy.

I've got various Peter Green tracks here. Just this week watched the DVD of his life story. Tragic really.
The music on offer this summer wasn't doing much for me so far, but this is different.

Tragic?
Did he go the way of Syd Barrett or something?

I'm a bunny at this You Tube stuff. My old (very) dial-up PC shat itself recently and I've now got a new machine and an ADSL2 connection. The cabinet is a whole 70m from my house.
It's all something of an eye opener really.
Looking at the Peter Green - Black Magic Woman entries lead to a nine minute Peter Green and Carlos Santana clip. Great.

Just checked out re more tickets to the Napier concert. Sold out inside 36 hours... But they have plans of a second concert. If you are keen, ring Music Machine in Napier: 06-835 5183 and leave your details. If enough interest then it will happen!
Not sure re the other concerts in Akl and Welly, might still be able to get tickets?

Sadly Peter Greens NZ part of the tour has been cancelled. He is still going to Oz, but will not come here. The word is that he really wanted to be here, but his bean counters said no, it was not economically viable to do the NZ leg. Bummer!
