Depends on the crash damage and if its a private sale or a dealer. A minter in a dealer can sometimes only be a $1000 cheaper, this is to entice you to buy a new one. Hard to say what it's worth? What sort of damage, fairings etc? bent frame? prob worth $10K up I guess if minimal damage, how desperate is the seller? Jim2 just bought a brand new 2004 R6 for under $14K, so if its damaged yeah prob close to $10K?

They are about $15-$16k brand new. It lost 20% of its value when it was ridden out of the shop -$3.2K. It's two years old at a depreciation rate of abour 7% pa.
That's $12800-$896 for the first year which equals $11904, then $11904-$833=$11071 for the second year.

What do you mean by suspension bearings? Are you talking headstock bearings or swingarm? Or do you mean wheel bearings? How do you drop a bike and only damage the undertray? It sounds like it has been dropped vertically from 10 feet. Take all the fairings off and check for damage hidden by the plastic. If the subframe is cracked you'll need a new one. If the frame is scratched or damaged, don't buy it. If it has been "dropped" take $2k off and then double it, because it always costs twice as much to fix as you think it will. We're down to $7071. If you're willing to lose nearly $3k on the deal then offer him $10k.

If it only has 2300km on the clock shouldnt need any mechanical work at all? What do you mean by suspension bearings? ex race bike?

I'd be ultra cautious, knackered head bearings at 2300km's? It's had a hard life or those k's are suspect.

Sounds like the rider might have given it a good thrashing...... cunning stunts etc...... but it has only done 2300 kms so shouldn't be too screwed, still get it all checked out (speedo hasn't been tamperd with....)

show him, or remember all the numbers and big words Jim was throwing around that made it worth F*** all on paper!! :niceone:

(i remember when looking at buying a bike i made it pay for itself in train and parking fees and showed the loan providors (my parents) how this bike was "pretty much paying me to ride it... :D )

If he is going overseas soon and has had very little interest, you may get a primo deal (doesnt sound like it has been marketed well saying its been dropped etc....), Ride it, tell him it's cool so he likes you then tell him how it's not really worth much and offer him 7..... all he can do is ask for more.... he WANTS your money...... make it on your terms.......

If he is moving away maybe he doesn't want to take all his "awkward, heavy, gear" with him, offer to assist by taking it off his hands within the price of the bike........

You're not shy, you get around
You wanna fly, don't want your feet on the ground
You stay up, you won't come down
You wanna live, you wanna move to the sound

Got fire in your veins
Burnin' hot but you don't feel the pain
Your desire is insane
You can't stop until you do it again

But sometimes I wonder as I look in your eyes
Maybe you're thinking of some other guy
But I know, yes I know, how to treat you right
That's why you call me in the middle of the night

You say it's urgent
So urgent, so oh oh urgent
Just wait and see
How urgent my love can be
It's urgent

You play tricks on my mind
You're everywhere but you're so hard to find
You're not warm or sentimental
You're so extreme, you can be so temperamental

But I'm not looking for a love that will last
I know what I need and I need it fast
Yeah, there's one thing in common that we both share
That's a need for for each other anytime, anywhere

It gets so urgent
So urgent
You know it's urgent
I wanna tell you it's the same for me
So oh oh urgent
Just you wait and see
How urgent our love can be
It's urgent

You say it's urgent
Make it fast, make it urgent
Do it quick, do it urgent
Gotta rush, make it urgent
Want it quick
Urgent, urgent, emergency
Urgent, urgent, emergency
Urgent, urgent, emergency
Urgent, urgent, emergency
So urgent, emergency
Emer... emer... emer...
It's urgent

I hope you realise that steering head bearings get damaged when the bike has done a LOT of wheelies! My cbr 600 still has the original bearings because I very rarely lift the front wheel.

7 would almost be half of what he is asking for. I think Anmol forgot to mention that this CBR comes with a Micron exhaust system, hyperpro rear shock etc etc. If I was the seller and if someone offered me 7K for it, I'd tell him to fuck off else where.

Good points about the rest of it flyin but IMHO, offer him 9 at the lowest and if you get the bike for 10-11 then you got yourself a bargain.

Doesn't have to be a lot. WT or Death Inc.'s head bearings probably don't get wrecked all too often cause they are good at wheelies and can land them gently. If an amature tries even a couple of wheels and freaks out at balance point by buttoning straight off and slams it down to the ground, the head bearings will easily be toast in no time (along with the fork seals).

I know what you're saying, but you have to start negotiating somewhere. The fact of the matter is that it has been customised with high performance parts, dropped, and and has shagged steering head bearings. It wouldn't surprise me if the races were shagged as well. All my alarm bells go off when I hear the description, and far from enticing me to buy it, the can and the shock would put me off. Plus the 2004 model is obsolete. 10-11 wouldn't be a bargain at all. I'd pay that for a straight, original, low kms F4i, but not a customised banged up RR.

yes...another thing i realised is that winters coming and since we had a real scorcher of a summer we are going to have an equally exterme winter....people dont buy a lot of bikes in the winter....atleast proportion wise.....slippery roads ...bad car drivers, foogy conditions.,etc........
thanks sudeep for mentioning the extras but i think they came alongwith the bike when he bought it...from cyclespot i think....
but i kindof decided to get the suzuki K4 GSXR 600 for abt 12,500........getting it on sat....ul think its worth it?????

Well for another $1500 you could be buying a brand spanking new R6!! Thats what I'd be looking at, or telling the Suzuki seller that, and get them to drop the price another $1500!

Isn't the 636 about the same. I thought, walk it out the door and it drops in value 20% if it's still in absolute mint.

Personally if you getting into the >$10k price range I think you should be going brand new, then you get in on the Jim2/636-Brigade's new bike lovin fun.
