We may have friends (or at least those who understand us) in places we would not expect

F'instance I would never of thought of this dude as a rider

Speech (http://www.treasury.govt.nz/publications/media-speeches/speeches/globalcrisis) delivered by John Whitehead, Secretary to the Treasury,

Sustained recovery will eventually get underway as the imbalances are worked through and policy measures help reinforce tentative recoveries in confidence. When that happens, it will be equally important that central banks and governments around the world move in a timely fashion to ensure on-going price stability and long-term fiscal sustainability. That will be particularly important for New Zealand – as an erstwhile motorcyclist I know that when your skull has been saved by your crash helmet, the first thing you should do is replace your helmet.

So, he rides . Only a biker would know that. And he's Secretary to the Treasury. About as high as you can get.

Who else do we have lurking in high places. And how could we leverage it.

So, he rides.

Rode. He's an erstwhile rider. As in, was, no longer, at some time in the past.

Yeah, but the fact that he put it in a speech, where it had no real connection, means he still thinks like a rider.

You don't have to own a bike to be a biker.

I guess we need to keep banging away at National and ACC countering their arguments with their own facts, that way people within these organisations will start asking the questions...for all NZers

keep going to these National events and keep pumping the 'Who's next' message...

also do not underestimate the power of visiting your local MP, esp National, Act and Maori parties, while they may sympathise .. make sure you get the points across, they will lose in the next election if this goes through and ask outright what action will they take .. do not let them hedge or fob off .. as a constituant you want to know how they stand and which way they will vote

National are on their own agenda, we need to keep the pressure on and organise visits to members of parliment to let them know we are not going away

also time to rally other groups to the fight .. After all they will be next ..

Last night at the Wellington 'Cocktail event' we had National MP's and members agreeing with us on the footpath (as long as the TV camera's were out of audio pickup anyway)

One leaving the party said to me 'its a farce, Nick should be getting better data than he is' so some within National are getting the message

Worth a crack.

Hope erstwhile bikers aren't like erstwhile smokers...

Just keep doing what we are doing, and keep doing it more. The media has run with it, apparently, should be relatively easy now. Otherwise Bikoi #2

I reckon this is the way to leverage them.
