one of my boys went to a school leavers party at a local scout camping area just out of town, it was ticket admission only with 1 school pupil and 1 friend allowed with adult supervision and there were police on site as well. They were tenting and there was a dj there etc and a good time was to be had by all, i got a text from him at 1am saying that his tent had ben robbed with car keys, wallet gone and his girlfriends cell phone gone, next text said that lots of stuff was missing from lots of tents, one girl had all her possessions taken. Luckily he found the keys and had his drivers licence and school id found this morning, had to cancel his eftpos etc what really shits me is that there were mostly his friends and their friends there, possibly someone had come in from outside but who knows??.they also took a subway sub he bought to have for breakfast and a can of V (no big loss) but left 2 440ml cans of speights. he traveled to Ireland and Hongkong this year and last week went to the Burt Monroe rally with nothing bad happening then this happens with so called friends!!

when he found that stuff was gone he went and told the cops but i hate to say it they were less than helpfull, if it was a episode of csi they would have found the culprit in a hour because of a trace of saliva and teeth marks on the sub, what also pissed me off was it took ages for me to go back to sleep

Camping is a bit of a risk now in NZ. Backpackers in vans are getting robbed at knife point.
I used to campervan a lot, usually at beach carparks. However, last few years P heads have been buzzing me late at night.
Sounds as if security was a ballsup, if adults and cops were there. Who advised people not to leave valuables in their tents? Very tempting goldmine for a thief

Unless some serious money is involved, the police wont be interested. They just get you to file a report for statistical purposes.

Perhaps the thief was one of the adults or a member of the Police ...

If its the Waiora camp site you speak of, the public road goes past it and the function would be known to be on by local wankers out to get what they can... (perhaps pissed off they weren't invited ... and for a good reason)

"Living in New Zealand" is a bit of a risk today! NZ law and order is fashioned for the protection of the criminals! :angry2:
