Road safety priorities for action in 2010

Is anyone in Government interested?

Over the last few years there have been massive dollars spent on Road Safety advertising and 2010 looks like another great year of expenditure.
March 2009 they were looking at cutting this funding by 50 million dollars, gives you some idea how much we're talking about.

So 2010 key objectives are;
The strategy’s key priority areas for action involve:
- engineering safer roads
- reducing speed
- combating drink–driving
- dealing with serious offenders
- encouraging the use of safety belts
- improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists
- improving the vehicle fleet
- new and better targeted education initiatives.

Their happy to take your money, yet do little to even look at the problem!
Ponder this, If it really was such a hugh concern then wouldn't there have been more focus on it here too?

They've got a focus for bikes,but it's not for public dissemination,it's to get all motorcycles off NZ roads by 2050.

We will eventually have 2 options.

1) Lay down and say:"Yes you do know what's best for us."

2) Do an "Oklahoma" on the Land Transport office in Wellington.

Easy recipe, drums and all like too, except the truck used might be a little harder to find but. Without that truck the recipes buggered really.

Wish they would address the problem of the many "to old to drive safely" buggers on our roads.Personally a bit biased as i had a family member killed by one years back ie on a 3 km straight with no other traffic and the prick did a righthand turn in front of her,seen em do endless mindless shit since and in the weekend right before my eyes another which resulted in 2 written off cars.Ive no answer to when someone should be taken off the road but i wish whoever is in charge of such things would come up with an answer.I think the worst thing is that in many cases after nearly killing someone they drive off totally oblivious to the facts......nuts.Rant over.
