I'm having some trouble with the digital speedometer on my 2008 EXC 125. It will turn on when I press the on button, but doesn't stay on and doesn't turn on automatically when the bike is running. I had a look at the wires coming out of the digital unit - it seems there are 9 wires in total and only a few are attached to something. From looking at the wiring diagram in the manual it seems that the speed sensor is connected to the unit by 2 wires - on my bike these don't seem to be connected to anything.
Can anyone tell me where the speed sensor is? and where I should be able to find the wires exiting from it?
Any help very much appreciated.
Cheers

Thanks for your help. Having just looked at my bike, it seems I have no sensor at all. Found these piccies on the internet, which one of the two should I have?
Oooops, realise I have uploaded two of the same photo - won't let me download anymore. The other picture shows the sensor a little lower.

In case this is a trick question ... I will go with D- all of the above.
It looks just like mine- except mine is way dirtier!
EDIT: mine goes as soon as the bike moves one wheel revolution. check that the tiny magnet in the disc rotor is actually there- it may have got knocked out.

Thanks Stuart. I have just been looking at my parts manual, and at the bike - I have the little magnet in the rotor but no sensor or cable at all - looks like it's going to cost me 100 bucks to get a new one! Never going to buy a second hand bike again! Thought it had done 70 hours when I got it as that's what the computer said - but realise it could have done 700 for all I know!

Where's your speed sensor? If it's an Aprilia, probably allegedly in a courier bag somewhere. I hope it takes less than 9 months for you to find it.
