View Full Version : What should I do?

I think I might be leaving my job at some stage in the nearish future.

I am not sure of what to do for a job so I just wanted to seek some advise here.

I am coming from a customer service background so I've got good peoples skills and I have the knack to pick up most things rather quickly, specially technical things. I haven't got a Uni degree or anything and I just have diploma in travel and tourism for my qualification. If all fails I could always work in the travel industry where I am atleast promised lots of hot single women! :niceone: But is that really enough reason to stay in a job?

Hmmmm, obviously to race I need to make lots of $$$$, so what do you guys reckon is the best way to make good money. I'd rather have an out and about job than a desk job but at the end of the day money is really what I'm after so if the pay is good enough, I don't think I'll be complaining. Oh and no, I am not going to be a male prostitute!! I wana race but that's just going to far to get the money for it!

Any ideas?

Well its always good to be doing something you love yes ? so bikes would have to be this so here are some ideas.

1/ Travel agent specializing in motorsport events ?
2/ A motorcycle tutor (for learners)
3/ A motorcycle salesman (hey if jimmy can do it :killingme )
4/ Re Train and become a motorcycle mechanic
5/ go to journalism shcool and be a freelance writer (you got the knack there)
6/ Sell your soul to the devil and fund and race a GP racer

Just some ideas.

But lucky for you, you are young and have many options, so dont be scared to break the current mould and make a new one.

Youre to ugly for a prostitute

Open a racing school along the lines of the California Superbike School. Track time and money, what could be betterer?

There are many sales based jobs these day's that will actually help you to get a degree/ qualifications based on aspects of the job you are employed to do. What you need to think is, do I want to stay in customer service if so, are you good with numbers? Banks offer competitive wages and NZQA based courses which they will pay for, then once you've done that you can move into a career of your choice etc.
Travel agency would also be a good job, and if you have experience they may be more favourable in offering you a position . . They may also offer the chance to do other courses which could gain you quals etc.

There are soo many options I know, but what you need to weigh up is where you want to be in about 5 years and take the path that'll get you there.
Good luck with whatever you pursue dude. :niceone:

That would be the retirement plan IF I do well in top level road racing first. Gotta earn the name and respect first, along with lots more experience and knowledge.

It's not a career option for myself for the near future but for the Travel agency that's a good business idea. I had the packages last time round but I didn't have time to do the whole KB thing well in advance. I will get on to that and let you guys know.

Mate this wll have them rolling in the aisles but you will definitely get the last laugh. You want hot babes, lots of money for racing, lots of time off for racing, days off in California to go and ride at the friggin school, with your quals in tourism..............become a flight steward. No brainer.

Join the Police. Two years later you can be paid to ride a bike at highly illegal speeds. And ticket people for doing the same.

yeah I can imagine MR hanging of the trolley while serving coffee

Or trying to tie a jet engine to his 600

or being towed by the jet on his 600 down the runway

Or even sticking his knee out the door during take off

god the list could go on for ages

Can I become a junior F/F too then? Or is my weight going to be a problem? I think I am missing at least about 20KGs of muscle. :apumpin:

Flight attendant? Gee, that sounds pretty gay... But if the pay is good and I get to travel and have hot babes, I'll look into it!

I always wanted to be a cop but picking up guts and brain tissue from the roads isn't really what I want to do really.

You could look at being a customer service agent with Air NZ. The Base pay may not be that shit hot, but you get the oppurtunity to do overtime and make some good bucks that way. Plus there is free motorcycle parking right behind the Intl terminal.

MATE!!
Forget all that.
Find a good bike shop and suck up to them big time!
Or something in the industry, either way you will get hook ups.

What ever you do..
Make sure you are going to enjoy it!
Nothing worse than hating your job.
Good luck mate!

Hey Sudeep

Becoming a Fire Fighter is a pretty good career option.

1. It's probably one of the most highly respected jobs out there
2. You'll have no probs getting the ladies attention: You've seen the way girls react to uniform
3. The pay is actually pretty OK
4. Time off to do your thing
5. You will always be in good health and not only be healthy but also pretty fit
6. The job is also really cool, dangerous -- but you're into "bike" racing ferchrissake..........

Check it out: http://www.kiwicareers.govt.nz/jobs/14c_law/j44312d.htm

Spent 9 years working as a deckhand on a commercial fishing vessel. It sucked toward the end and I did not want to do it any more. I took 12 months out of my life to figure out what I was going to do. Tell you what, if someone had told me 15 years ago that I was going to be a Nurse, I probably would have decked that person. BUT, I love it! Will do it until I retire...
Work with alot of women (some are easy on the eyes, some not. But all great people!) which an be good or drive me barmy. Sometimes I go and talk to psychotic people rather than listen to the gossip...
Once people get to know me and we go through the "oh I though male nurses are gay" shit, some of the women like the fact that I'm a nurse and I guess it helps that I've got my sexuality sorted (sorry guys, look elsewhere if your that way inclined  ). But I really enjoy working in mental health and its why I did nursing. What you need to do is figure what field you want to work in , get your qualifications and get into it. Remember, the sooner you start the sooner you get there. Half of NZers hate their jobs according to research! Which side do you want to be on??? :niceone:

Everyone knows what FF recruits earn, that's no big secret. Double that number and I'm still not impressed, 'specially with what house prices are at the moment - can't service a mortgage on that kind of money without making a few sacrifices. Is it good or bad then? Must still be bad, there was a lot of whingeing over the pay a few years back, or are they over that now...

meh, I was more concerned about the 'passing comment": "Fuckin computer geek". I help a lot of people in my job too.

Well hopefully going to go for a short blat on Saturday morning, haven't ridden the bike since Taupo, starting to get withdrawals :scooter:
