Price of a re-sleeve?

Looking at another project bike since the rm is pretty much done... What would the aprox cost to re-sleeve a 2 stroke be?

depending on the bike, it can be cheaper to get a second hand cylinder. Wiseco sleeves are about $200 I think.

I thought modern 2 strokes run nikasil liners, meaning it would need to be re-coated not re-sleeved?

Boss engineering, wanganui resleeve. not 100% but around $200 done. coated cylinders are bored out then sleeve inserted meaning any cylinder can be done.

Boss advertise in back of Kiwi Rider.

As a comparison, US Chrome will replate for $220US minus freight (for a pretty tidy cylinder with no welding needed.) NZ cylinders are around $600 to replate.

Sleeving is by far cheapest option.

I would think NZ cylinder would only be $600 if it needed substantial repairing, a friend has just had a Husqvarna cylinder done with repair for $500

Sleeving might be cheapest repair but it isn't the best repair

depends on the bike sleeves arnt that costly depending on bike. Just have to watch if the bore is coated it will cost more to machine as the tips break as they machine and at $50 a tip it soon adds up some places are 2-300 to cover for the tips damaged.
Guy we use dose it for bout $80 plus $50 to send up the road to have it heated and sleeve pressed in.

Shit, it is on tm... I found out about it thru a mate who knows the bike. I thought it was newer than 98 as well... Not realy worth it then

most things end up there small world guy i get parts of dont list a rod kit for the 98 the others they did list where only like 128 trade so wasnt lookin to bad to start no sleeves either something must have changed just pre 98 as a lot of what they do have covers up in to the year 2000 plus but those bits stop just before 98 shame

I got a sleeve for a kx125 put in not long ago.
Farm and Trail in Te Awamutu did the job. I think it was around $300 mark. He did a very good job on the sleeve - but let me down on the piston which he promised to get.
I was also told that a cast iron sleeve can be coated with Nikasil as well. So I should be good for a couple of oversizes and a coating hopefully.
