After expecting it this week, I've just been told today that my new Kwaka 636 doesn't arrive now until 15 May (a Sunday?). This is the 3rd date change.
Should I:
1. Complain loudly & get them to throw in a new Shoei as compensation for the extreme delay (they've also had my $1000 deposit all this time),
2. Just wait yet again, or
3. Get my deposit back & go elsewhere?
What to do, what to do.

that sucks. I'd be camping on their doorstep. I'd also be doin #1 for sure. But then again, it depends who's fault it is that it's been delayed. If it isn't the shops, then doesn't matter where you take your mula, if there's no bikes coming, isn't going to make it any quicker. And then again, why should they give you stuff out of their pocket if it's not their fault?
Do they not have another 636 they can give you til your one arrives? Itd be quicker for you to pick it up from the manufacturer and hoon it back!
still push, end of the day they are the ones giving you service and they are the ones you see, not the manufacturer..

Speak to the top manager of the shop that you are buying the bike from....
Dont bother with the sales rep's anymore....
And maybe do a deal with the top manager.... re new helmet for nothing..and a loaner in the meantime.... 3 months seems a long time to wait.... but as the others have said... maybe its still on the slow boat coming over to NZ.
All the best for when it does arrive....
BTW are there any other shops around that would have what you are wanting?

3 Months? There's NO way it takes 3 months to get a bike in, does it???
Hells bells, I hope you get the bike soon, I can imagine the pain through anticipation!
I have a tendency to be hasty in judgement, so I won't jump to any conclusions. Let us know WHY it took so long, and what happens. Rest assured, if they have been fucking you around, it's not good, what with the biking community being so close, and word spreading and all (if you get my meaning... say no more say no more ;) ;) )

I would ask what date the shipment is due. I know NZ usually gets its second this time of year (first tends to be pre-sold). Also, 3 months and you have only laid out $1k, gunna make the shop enthusiastic about ordering in a $16k (or whatever the price is bike) dont you think.

Yeah, I would check with the shop about this and if you dont like the reply, check with Kawasaki NZ - I assume all bikes come through them.

At least she has put money down and shown she is serious with an order! You want her to pay for the friggen bike first, then wait 3-4-5 months for delivery?

Unfortunately, 636s are bloody hard to get hold of.
There is a nice Silver 2004 R6 for $13995 in the shop just next door though. :)

Delays are out of the shops hands and I do believe them. The reason for delay is worldwide demand & little old NZ is down the pecking order as far as orders/shipments go.
They're loaning me a similar cc'ed bike the weekend after next so I'll practice on that until my 636 arrives. I'm always the optimist and can find the good in anything :)
Means I can save a wee bit more $$ for a new helmet & gear.

You mean it's not just Kiwi's snapping these things up like crazy. Go figure... hehe
That many people can't be wrong. Obviously it's a brilliant bike, and you'll be supremely happy with it when it does finally arrive.
On to more pressing issues...
What's the loaner?
DebK

Hopefully not an aff-man "special loaner"!
I have no idea at this stage.

You should still ask firmly (but nicely) for some compensation considering the three let-downs you've had! A principle I often live by is "you don't get if you don't ask". :Oi:

Ps. I'm really sure it'll be worth the wait.

Pre-sold. A mate of mine bought their demonstrator while it was being delivered about 3 months ago.
I was talking to Brendan at Motorad before he went off to do the Silkriders thing, and he said he'd never seen anything like the way the 05 636 is selling itself.

In April 2003 I expected my WR450 to arrive. It finally arrived in July. The reason - bloody Australians - Our bikes come from there and had to be ADR'd plus they were the biggest selling bike in Australia so we had to wait for the supply to trickle through to NZ.

Hmmmm. If it is Sawyers/Motorad, crazylittleshit went in and ordered one and got it, all within the last 3 months. I'm assuming it must be some other shop or else there's something rotten in the state of Kawasaki! (well, aside from the usual.)

DebK, and I mean no disrespect with the following statements to anyone living or dead, ordered a Magma Red one. The Green ones are common. The titanium ones less common, but still not as rare as Magma Red.

A girl must be satisfied colour-wise, Jim2. Not seen the Candy Plasma Blue 636 anywhere either... the colour name might have put a few manly men off :)
The Lime Green has to be the best colour to be easily seen on the road.

Crazylittleshit's one is, as I hear on a regular basis, "gunmetal grey". I don't know if that makes any difference?

I thought they called those "Matt Titanium".
I like the blue 636 best of all, but apparently the Ghey name seems to put blokes off. ;)

tis a bit 'girly'.. Like calling pink 'Hot Salmon'.. still pink..
I don't think blue is the best for these bikes (sorry Mono, scooterboynz and any other I've just offended.. still kwaka bro's tho ;)). As they shoot past so damn quick (as they do), they could be mistaken for Yamas, cos the blue is similar in shade etc.. Best in something original, or team colours I reckon..

As Jim said, and? :msn-wink: For one brief moment in time, the rider could experiece what it's like to ride a real Yamaha all the time. People stop me in the streets, and ask if they can hold their babies up against the fairings.
Have you not seen the Yamaha (R1 specifically) add on prime during the MotoGP? Stop pretending :devil2:
