ZXR250C Repairs

G'day,
I just bought a ZXR250C cheap ($2.2k) that needed a bit of work done to it.
the rear break calliper needs a clean as it won't clamp down properly, all the bearings I can think of need an replacing (stearing head and both wheels) and the carbs need a clean (I hope that's all they need as I can smell petrol fumes after a bit of a thrash. Is that normal?)

I'm cool with that as I reckon I could pull it off. But...after buying the bike I found out some of the most obvious and expensive problems that I didn't know of before I bought it. the discs are warped and it veers off to the right when I take my hands off the bars.

My first reaction was, 'Oh Shyt, who's a silly phuck for missing those?' after a brief and mild panick attack :killingme I now want to find out how to fix these problems. Any tips? I mainly want to find out where the problem lies with my veering to the right. I can't see any stress marks on the frame so I think I'm going to have to take everything apart to find the root. where should I start?

Any information you can provide me with would be greatly helpful.

Before you get too carried away, have you checked the alignment of the back wheel? those factory marks tell fibs

also check the profile of the tyres (riding on heavily cambered roads, track days etc where one side of the tyre gets worn far more than the other).

yeah that was me. funny looking paint job isn't it? that was the day I bought it.

the guy I bought it off said he just had the tyres changed at motohaus (which was why I was there, as well as other reasons) and the tyres were practically new by the time I got to them. I reckon they would have been alligned properly but I'll check it again.

well, the adjusters look shorter on the right than it does on the left if that means anything. I'm no pro, I'm on a 250 after all so I wouldn't know when the tyres are in line. I tried looking from the front and back to see whether any part of the tyres stuck out where they shouldn't in comparreson to the other but I couldn't see two tyres unless I stood 4-5 meters back.
how do I know when it's strait or not? fiddle a bit untill it rides strait, trial and error style?
