Just wanting to see if there is any interest out there.

2003 KTM 525 SX

Don’t let the year of the bike worry you as it is really only the frame and the outside of the engine which is this age, everything else has had an upgrade.

It has the SX speed close ratio 1st – 4th with the exc 5th and 6th this makes gearing really easy as the tallest race gearing you need is a 13 42, which is good for over 180k.
It has been converted to electric start, with kick start also
It has a vapour tech dash which tells you the revs, speed and water temp, also has a 2 stage shift light and 2 stage temp warning light.

Oh and its road legal, rego is due this month but I will sort that out.

This bike has never seen mud! Both myself and the previous owner never had dirt wheels.
I would say it hasn’t seen dirt but there was an off road section at the Greymouth Street Race.

I literally have a pile of receipts for the all the work I have had done to this thing during the year, some of which include:

Main Bearings, rod kit, full top end with 12.5:1 piston kit
FMF header pipe with power bomb
Hot Cams stage 1 cam
Minor porting done
Suspension fully rebuilt and resprung front and rear for 100kg rider
Last time this was on the dyno it was 50hp but since then its had the header, the cam and the porting done so I am guessing at 52-54hp.

The mods I have done have been to make more power without making the bike unreliable, should be good for 25 hours + track time on a piston, maybe more.

I have only done 10 hours on the new bearings, rod and piston.

Very competitive bike, I have had some great results on this bike but I want to move to the 450 class, otherwise I wouldn’t be selling it.

I will be racing it in the Tri-Series (Manfeild, Wanganui & Taupo) this year but after that it will be for sale.

Crowd-pleaser . . . Hayden Scorringe wheelies his KTM up Princes St.

The Southern Festival of Speed 1/8 mile standing sprint held on Saturday, in Princes St, Dunedin, has been deemed a success, and organisers are planning to run the event again next year.

The sprint was held beside the Oval and co-organiser Boyd Wilkinson said it attracted more than 1000 people.

"We were really pleased. We had a fantastic crowd, a really large crowd for quite a while, and the competitors loved it.''

Mr Wilkinson said the event was planned to keep up the profile of the festival while the road race, which had not run for the past two years, was in hiatus.

It was hoped that event would return in 2011, but such was the success of the sprint, Mr Wilkinson said it would return next year.

Winners. - Car: Rob Dale (Dunedin), Nissan GT-R, 6.92sec; motorcycle: Earl Nunn (Christchurch), 1200cc Kawasaki, 6.361sec.
