Good base hostel in Auckland?

Hello,

I will be arriving in Auckland from Canada on Dec 27 at 6 am. Can someone please recommend a good base hostel to start with? I am having a hard time deciding between Base and Fat Camel. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you :)

If you are talking about base backpackers just make sure you get a receipt when you pay for your accomodation.

Stayed there when I first landed and later found out they have backpackers working on the reception. Turns out when I came to check out they said I owed 5 nights stay.

When I had paid, the backpacker had pocketed the money. Annoyed me no end. Not used base since.

I do however recommend the YMCA. There are two near central auckland. A lot nicer place to stay for about the same money.

Fat Camel is right in the heart of the red-light and club district. Good parties but you may have a hard time sleeping as the street is busy 24/7 on Thurs/Fri/Sat. Base is in a slightly nicer area. Both are within walking distance of everything you need.
